Before – Key points for Effective Moderation Sessions
    Begin and end on time
    Bring student work to the teacher moderation session
    Be open to and willing to share new ideas
    Make decisions based on improving student learning

During – Probe the Data through Asking Deep Questions
   Take your time when assessing one students work
   Collectively score one to two pieces of work from each teacher’s class
   What is your reasoning behind the assigned level of achievement?
   Which descriptors in the rubric best match the student’s writing?
   What evidence from the student’s writing do you see that helps you
      determine the rating?
   How will you give formative feedback to the student?

After – Next Steps
    Determine the next steps for instruction based on the marking
    What are the areas of improvement that will move the student forward?
      Investigate and share key instructional strategies.
    Set new goals for students, class and school improvement
