OCU Hosts Safe Trick-or-Treating Night
OKLAHOMA CITY – Parents looking for a safe trick-or-treating option and an early
chance to test out their children’s Halloween costumes are invited to the Oklahoma City
University campus Thursday for a bountiful source of candy and fruit. The event is free to the
public.
Students in the Walker Hall building, a dormitory facing N.W. 23rd Street near Kentucky
Avenue, will hand out treats from 5:30 to 8 p.m. during the annual event. The lobby area of each
floor of the seven-story building will be open for trick-or-treating business, and the dorm’s
resident assistants will help participants along on their quest for candy. The dorm residents have
decorated the building to set the Halloween mood.
Children are encouraged but not required to wear their Halloween costumes.
Invitations have gone out to area elementary schools, as the dorm dwellers are hoping for
a good community turnout.
“The students have started collecting the candy and can’t wait to see everyone in their
costumes,” Arnall said. “We’re hoping to see a lot of kids from the surrounding neighborhood.
It’s an indoor environment and you don’t have to worry about traffic. The RAs (resident
assistants) on each floor will be tour guides, so it will be easy for people to find their way
around.”
