In 2007-2008 the Middle East/North Africa Region’s

Coordinator had to be gone. The Region established this

structure in his absence.



MENA Regional Coordination Meeting

Amman 3-5 Sept. 2007





The meeting purpose:

Building a team for MENA Regional Coordination to work under the guidance of the

Regional Coordinator.

Notes:

 Mr. Mr. Shlomo Alon (MENA GCT), couldn’t join the meeting for health reasons.

 Mr. Mr.Tareq Altamimi (Volunteering for Peace CC, Palestine), couldn’t join for

previous engagement.

 Ms. Elana Rozenman (WIN MENA CC, Regional, GCT), joined in the last session of the

meeting on 5 Sept. 07.





Meeting highlights

At the first session of the meeting, Mamoun (R.C.) distributed a questionnaire to all

participants consisted of the following questions:



- What are the coordination team priorities and duties for the next 12 months?

- How should I work under RC guidance and directions (my accountability)?

- How should I cooperate with MENA GCT’s ?

- Fill in my action plan for the next 12 months based on coordination team

priorities.

The questionnaire gave each participant a chance to submit his/her ideas and opinion

individually before the group work.

After discussing the ideas and brain storming together, we agreed upon the following:



1. Appointing MENA Coordination Team:

The team comprises of five members of MENA CCs. The below table indicates the

MENA coordination team members and the sub- regions that they will look after:

2.Deciding MENA Coordination Team key responsibilities according to

priorities:



Key Responsibilities Major Activities

1. Ensure that all CCs fully understand URI Charter and bylaws.

implementing URI 2. Support CCs to comply with URI Charter and bylaws and fulfill their mission

This may require calling on CCs and opening channels of communication with CCs.

4. Report CC news and activities.



1. Arrange for Coordination team and R.C. meeting (expected on 25 June 2008).

Organizing regional

This meeting will help in evaluating the Coordination team performance,

gatherings

meeting MENA new elected GCTs, and preparing for URI MENA annual

conference (expected in early July 2008).

2. Arrange URI MENA annual conference (expected in July 2008).



You may want to specify who will be responsible, or the process for sharing h the

work for these two meetings # 1 and 2.







3. Arrange for URI assembly in India (Nov. 2008)



Promote URI 1. Introduce URI to interested groups.

2. Receive and review new CC applications and conduct the interviews then

send your recommendation to R.C.

3. Represent URI in activities/conferences that comply with URI PPPs after

obtaining the approval from R.C. and GCTs.

4. Enhance the interaction between CCs locally and globally.



(If team members want to be added to the uri-contacts list OR uri-discussion list –

please have them send their email to Deepak or me.)





( in terms of information sent to all GC and staff – shall I continue to send it to

you and have your send this info on to the team?

5. Update CCs with URI news.

6. Help CCs in any possible way to fulfill their aspiration and play their role

with URI PPPs.

Notes:

 All Coordination Team members are accountable directly to R.C.

 R.C. will supervise and guide the coordination team.

 Coordination Team will cooperate with GCTs and Legal Rep.

 Serious issues are to be handled by R.C. and GCTs.

 R.C. will do his best to attend URI MENA regional gathering in June and July.

 Each coordination team member is requested to submit an action plan to R.C., in

which he/she indicates the activities he/she will pursue according to time table.

 The coordination expenses shall be reimbursed from MENA budget, but it is

better to have the Legal Rep. approval before committing any expenses.

 R.C. will officially advise all MENA region CCs with the appointment of the

Coordination team.
