Overview:
The students will learn how to search for an image on the internet, save the image, and gather
the information necessary to cite the image. (Actual citing of the images will be implemented
in the next activity.)

instruction and supervision.

Identify the events (Bunker Hill) of the Revolutionary War.
Name significant American leaders during the Revolutionary War.

Locate, gather, and synthesize information for a variety of purposes.
Identify and use electronically stored sources to locate and acquire information.

Procedure:
In the Classroom
1. Using the TVElite, the teacher will demonstrate how to open Google, search for an
image, save the image in the student’s folder, and copy and paste the documentation into
the correct columns of the template.
**Teacher note: model to students how to resize images copied into the template down to
about one inch square.
2. Instruct students that they will be locating images that relate to the Battle of Bunker Hill.
The first image will be a picture depicting the battle. The second may be of General
Washington.
3. Inform students that the images and documentation gathered in the activity will be used
in the next activity (Gathering Information From Two Sites and Citing Resources).
At the computer
1. The students will follow the step-by-step directions to save at least two images related to
the Battle of Bunker Hill and complete the template Bunker Hill Images and
Documentation (Bunker Hill Images.doc).
Assessment:
Observe students searching Google.
Check student’s folder for saved image relative to the Battle of Bunker Hill.
Check Student’s template Bunker Hill Images and Documentation (Bunker Hill
Images.doc) for correct information.
