Introduction to Chinese law
A general overview of the present legal system and law of the PRC. The course begins with a survey of traditional Chinese law and the development of socialist theory and practice before and after 1949. It then provides an introduction to important areas of legislation enacted since 1979, including: Constitutional reform: courts, procuracy and lawyers Mediation and dispute settlement The criminal process Introduction to civil law Marriage law and the status of women Economic reform
