					CREATING DOCUMENTS WITH MICROSOFT WORD – Lab Assignment#2 (15 points)

This information sheet should be used by students enrolled in online Sections #4503, #5390 & #5392 –
for use with your Microsoft Office 2007 Illustrated Brief lab textbook - due by February 25, 2009

Instructions for face-to-face section: Please complete all parts of this lab assignment and submit the two
completed Word document files to you instructor IN-CLASS by the due date.

Instructions for online section: Please complete all parts of this lab assignment. When done … attach to
your email the two completed Word document files and send to ssarkar@santarosa.edu. Your email
subject line should include the words cis5lab2

Please refer to Units D, E & F of your lab text book for a brief tutorial on MS Word 2007.

In this tutorial you will practice how to start Word and navigate in the Word window by using the mouse,
toolbars, menus, shortcut menus, and shortcut keys

The practice the basics of word processing including entering text, deleting text using the backspace or delete
key, selecting and replacing text, inserting text, and overtyping existing text. The use of spelling and grammar
checker tools will be demonstrated.

You will also practice how to change font style and size and add emphasis to text. The header and footer area
will be viewed, and a chapter folder will be created to help organize your files. You will also learn how to save,
preview, print, and close documents. Finally, you will learn how to add special elements to a document.

(1) Review all content for Unit D: Creating a Document (pages 75 - 93)

You will have mastered the material in MS Word 2007 Unit D when you can:

       Create a new document from an existing file
       Enter text in a document
       Start a program
       Select and edit text
       Copy text
       Move text
       Find and replace text
       Format text using the Mini toolbar
       Check spelling and grammar
       Preview and print a document

(1) Review all content for Unit E: Enhancing a Document (pages 101 - 117)

You will have mastered the material in MS Word 2007 Unit E when you can:

      Change font and font size
      Change font color, style, and effects
      Change alignment and line spacing
      Change margin settings
      Set tabs
      Set indents
      Add bulleted and numbered lists
      Apply Quick Styles

You will have mastered the material in MS Word 2007 Unit F when you can:

      Create a table
      Insert and delete table columns and rows
      Format a table
      Add clip art
      Insert footnotes and citations
      Insert a header or footer
      Add borders and shading
      Work with themes

After completing a review of MS Word (Unit D, E and F) content as well as the skills review sections you will
apply what you have learned by using Microsoft Word to complete the following:
