List of Equipment and Function
Agilent 83433A: This is a transmitter that can operate up to 10Gb/s. This
equipment uses an externally modulated DFB laser.
Agilent 83434A: This is a receiver that can operate up to 10Gb/s.
Agilent 83438A: This is an erbium-doped amplified stimulated emission
(ASE) source. This source has approximately a 30nm wavelength band.
Santec Tunable Laser: This is a laser with a wavelength that is tunable
over approximately 100nm.
Agilent 86140B: This is an optical spectrum analyzer (OSA). This
equipment is used to measure the wavelength content of a source
Agilent 8153A with module: This is used to measure the average power of
a source.

JDS HA-9: Attenuator
Tektronix ST2400A: This is a pattern generator. A pattern generator
produces a random data set. This pattern generator produces a 2.4 Gb/s data
set (OC-48) that is transmitted by a directly modulated (=1550nm) laser.
This equipment can also take a 2.4Gb/s signal and break out a 622Mb/s
(OC-12) or 155Mb/s (OC-1) signal. The OC-12 and OC-1 signals are
transmitted by a directed modulated multi-mode (=1310nm) laser.
