COURSE DESCRIPTION

Intermediate program to train for Symphonic Band.
Marching band is part of the Laker Band. Students attend a band
camp in the summer to prepare for drill competitions in the fall.
After school and before school rehearsals are required until
competitions are completed.
Laker Band encompasses all the band activities at BHS including
marching band (fall), pep band (winter), various concerts, and
graduation. You may enroll for a semester or for the entire year.
Study of composing, harmonizing, and writing music. Preparation
for the AP test. Proficiency on an instrument or voice required.
Open to students by audition and instrumentation needs. Band will
perform various styles of music: big band, modern jazz, rock, Latin
and others. Performs at concerts, athletic events, tours and
festivals. The course covers jazz techniques, improvisation, and

Emphasis is on skill development, snare, timpani, and mallet.
Students perform as a percussion ensemble and as the percussion
section for the bands and orchestra.

Advanced Drama I is audition methods. Advanced Drama is
intense actor training for drama competition.
Will cover all theatre performance based disciplines: acting,
singing, and dancing. Designed for students who show moderate
to advanced proficiency in at least 2 of these areas. Must audition.
Hands-on theatrical techniques by performing in the school play
and other productions. Make-up fee. Advanced Drama
recommended.
Tech service: lighting, sound, and set. Before and after school
