IETF met in Anaheim, CA last week (March 22-26, 2010)
iSCSI Update: To be obsoleted by new and improved jSCSI
– “I had nothing to do with this, really.” – Skip Jones
– Next killer protocol: kSCSI (functionality TBD)
FC pseudowire: SR flow control protocol removed
– Replacement :QP anti-chewing protocol for rat resistance
Generalization: Backhoe = large mechanical rat
– WiFi encapsulation added to route around rat damage
Backhoe damage: Use WiMax instead of WiFi
IPv4 address exhaustion: Ubiquitous NAT usage endorsed
(NAT = Network Address Translation)
– FC extension: Use NAT-like iFCP address translation mode only
FCIP and iFCP address transparent mode to be obsoleted
– Reason: No address translation functionality

FC pseudowire (FC PW) drafts
– SR flow control protocol removed, fc-flow draft abandoned
– New editor for fc-encap draft: Linda Dunbar, Huawei
– Revised fc-encap-10 draft posted with most changes
– Will need at least another version of fc-encap draft
FC pseudowire and T11
– Will apply ASFC flow control (from GFPT) to replace SR
Requires FC-BB-6 proposal (planned for next meeting cycle)
– Should also amend BB-4 and BB-5 accordingly
Add ASFC for FC PW, replace Internet-Draft references
