Yen’s bad luck
Prologue
Yen is a very young emperor he is about 24 years old and he has black hair, a long
yellow silk robe with a dragon on it. He always got what he wanted all his life so he was a
very spoiled man.
Chapter 1
(the only chapter)
One day in a small farming village about 12 miles away from Yen’s castle his throne
bearers were carrying him. Suddenly they stopped and Yen ordered them to steal a bunch of
crops from another young man named Chen whose farm they were passing by. Chen was a
farmer and a very powerful sorcerer, but Yen did not know this so he kept stealing the crops
but Chen fought back and a few minutes later Yen threw a tantrum and punched Chen. Then
Chen got very angry and cursed Yen with 50 years of bad luck.
The next day Yen walks down the stairs to get his breakfast and falls down the stairs
because of this he made it illegal for people to walk down the stairs they had to jump from
the floor above. When this law was passed the people were outraged. They started to crowd
around the castle and protest because of the noise of the crowd Yen’s guard got distracted
and a burglar got in and stole all of the emeiperor’s prized jewels. As an effect the emperor
made it illegal to go out without telling his guards and if they did or did something else they
would be fined for 40,000 Yuan. Then Yen went out to the wise old man who told stories in
his courtyard but the old man fell very ill. After all these events Yen felt enormously
depressed and betrayed so he made a law that the people had to entertain him every second
of the day and if even for one minute he was sad everyone would be fined for 50,000 Yuan.
The next day his guards reported that everyone was fined at least 91 times so he
would be getting millions of Yuan. This made Yen very happy but when his money arrived
the cart caught fire and all his money melted or burned. When Yen heard this he fell ill and
came close to dying but suddenly Chen appeared in his bedroom and said that all of the
events happened because he was greedy and that the curse wouldn’t be so bad if he had a
better attitude because the better the attitude the less bad luck there would be.
A week later the emperor got better and applied what Chen had told him and he got
a better attitude and returned everyone’s money and lifted all the unfa
ir laws. When he finished he told the guards and they wondered if they should catch
Chen but Yen said no and explained what he had heard from Chen the previous week and
his guards understood. Right after that happened he asked everyone in his kingdom to help
him prepare for the next 49 years and 51 weeks of bad luck and the people agreed to help
the new and “improved” nice emperor?!
Epilogue
49 years and 51 weeks later when the emperor looked back he saw that he had not
had any bad luck like the curse said he would… or no more than an average person usually
has. Suddenly tears filed Yen’s eyes as he remembered his newly deceased friend…Chen. He
had died exactly one year before; now it was his birthday and the day Yen’s curse ended. All
of the people in the kingdom mourned over his death and rejoiced over Yen’s birth they
were twins separated at birth but they never knew about this aspect for they were maternal
twins and never made the connection.
