Cause and Effect is the fifth album by the Norwegian singer-songwriter Maria
Mena, due for release on July 26th.
This album follows the successful release of the critically acclaimed pop gem ‘All
This Time’, which was the first track to be released in the UK. ‘All This Time’ was
instantly added to Radio 2 B-list and Smooth FM playlist.
Coming from a musical background with her father already playing in bands in Oslo,
Maria asked her dad to preview her first demo – this led to securing her first record deal
with Sony Music at the innocent age of 14. Mena then released her first two singles and
debut album by the age of 15, and promptly earned her first platinum record.
Applying her unusual and beautiful vocal skills to her raw and honest lyrics, this album is
sure to put Maria firmly on the UK map.
In such a short amount of time this 23 year old singer already has a wealth of
experience and awards under her belt, including an appearance on the David
Letterman show, winning a Grammy for Best Female Artist, a 2009 EMA nomination for
Best Scandinavian Artist, winning 2009 German ECHO Best International Female and
2009 Norwegian Music Awards Best Female Artist. Her huge fan-base just keeps on
growing!
Containing strong melodies packed with impressive and exciting pitch exploration, this
album is something to get excited about. The album’s stand-out tracks include the fast
paced catchy beats of ‘Belly Up’, alongside the calmer contemplations of ‘I’m On Your
Side’.
