The 4 Phases: Building a House 2/4/10 Curtis Hartson
Initiation:
The first phase of the project management process. We need to find the size, scope and
complexity of building a house so we can establish further steps later in our project. We need
to figure out financial costs and approval of bank loans for us to consider building a house.
After figuring out the costs of the project, we could then figure out a specific location on where
we would like to build and have our home. We would need a couple weeks to find a location
that fits our needs the best.
Planning:
The second phase of the project management process. We need to research and define the
clearest activities and work for us to complete the necessary steps of building our home. We
would need to blueprint our design on what we want the house to look like such as how large
we want the house, etc. Finding supplies such as needed amount of wood, roofing, etc. would
need to be planned out. Then once all this is taken care of, we would research and call/locate
contractors to build the home.
Execute:
The third phase of the project management process. We would then put our initiation and
planning into action and start to build. Contractors would start constructing the foundation
and septic/electrical, etc. Then the exterior of the house would be constructed and after that
would be the interior such as painting the walls, flooring, etc. Landscaping would be our last
execution to make the yard look pretty.
Closedown:
The final phase of the project management process. We would then calculate the final
operational costs for the contractors that built the house for us. Once that is taken care of,
moving our belongings such as furniture, appliances, etc. into our new home. After that, we
would have to maintain the house and make sure everything stays in good, working condition
outside and inside the house.
