Father’s Day brew festival returns to Saint Edward State Park
OLYMPIA – June 2, 2011 – The Washington State Parks and Recreation Commission invites the
public to the Washington Brewer’s Festival at Saint Edwards State Park.
The craft beer festival runs from June 17 through 19 at Saint Edward State Park, 14445 Juanita Drive
N.E., Kenmore. Activities are planned from 4 to 9 p.m. June 17 (ages 21 and older only), and all ages
from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. June 18 and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. June 18 and 19.
The event features nearly 200 craft beers by Washington state breweries, with exclusive beers available
June 17 only from 35 select breweries. Other activities beginning June 18 include live music, cider and
wine tasting, games and a root beer garden.
The Friends of Saint Edward State Park and the Washington State Parks and Recreation Commission
Boating Program will be providing state park, friends group and boating safety information at the
festival. The Friends of Saint Edward will be collecting donations for the development of additional
interpretive panels at Saint Edward State Park.
Admission for the festival is $15 in advance or at the door on June 17 and includes a tasting cup and

four tasting tokens; and $20 in advance or $25 at the door June 18-19 and includes a tasting cup and
six tasting tokens. Persons under 21 are admitted free of charge June 18-19, but must be accompanied
by an adult. Advance tickets are available online at www.brownpapertickets.com/event/174098 or at
local outlets. Designated driver admission for any day is $8 at the door.
On-site parking is very limited at the festival. Advance purchase of on-site parking passes is required
for the event. Passes are available online at www.brownpapertickets.com/event/174098 until June 10
or until all passes are sold. Parking on-site is free June 17 and $15 June 18-19. Participants are strongly
encouraged to take public transportation or park in a designated off-site parking lot. Free shuttles from
the designated off-site parking to the event are available June 18-19. Disabled parking is free in the
reserved parking area near the admission booth.

The Washington Brewer’s Festival is presented by Washington Beer Commission in partnership with
the Washington State Parks and Recreation Commission. The festival is the primary fundraiser for the
Washington Beer Commission. The Commission, established to encourage local beer brewing using
in-state agricultural ingredients, is the first of its kind in the nation.
Saint Edward State Park is a 316-acre, day-use park with 3,000 feet of freshwater shoreline on Lake
Washington. The Late Romanesque Revival style seminary building, designed by Seattle architect
John Graham, sits amidst expansive park grounds that include a stand of forest with hiking trails to the
shores of the lake.
The Commission manages a diverse system of more than 100 state parks and recreation programs,
including long-distance trails, boating safety and winter recreation. The 98-year-old park system will
