REAL DISCIPLESHIP
I. INTRODUCTION
A. Last week - "GIVING".
1. Exhorting church to
give to the poor.
2. Key verse = Chapter
8 verse 9.
a) 2Corinthians 8:9
b) Correct "motivation"
for giving.
(1) Jesus gave
Himself!
B. This morning, “REAL
DISPIPLE”.
1. Paul accused of not
being an Apostle!
2. Paul was small and
not handsome.
3. Accused of being
"wimpy".
a) A person of God
often unjustly accused.
(1) Not to use worldly
methods in
(2) Church in Corinth
using worldly methods.
(a) Learn much by way
he does it.
(3) How to use 3 spiritual
"weapons".
(a) Every disciple must
learn to use!!!
(b) 1Samuel 16:7
II. 2CORINTHIANS 10:1-2
A. Some in Corinth accused
Paul, notice his response!
1. "PAUL" = "little"
a) End up in the flesh -
think highly of
ourselves
(1) Matthew 23:12
2. Paul wanted people
to trust in the Lord.
a) Absence of "self-
promotion" mistaken as
"weakness".
(1) Same mistake
with Jesus.
(a) Matthew 11:29

(c) Matthew 16:18
(2) Important point for
fighting in the Spirit!
(a) 2Corinthians 12:9
(1) Spiritual power
often
manifested in
human weakness.
B. 2CORINTHIANS 10:3-6
1. Cannot fight Spiritual
battles with carnal weapons
a) "warfare" = campaign
(1) Battles at Corinth a
small part of
satanic
"campaign"!!!!
(2) Now encompasses
many areas of life.
(a) Ephesians 6:12
(i) satan trying to
destroy work of
the Lord!!!!
b) satan‟s strongest
weapon = human pride!
(1) Pride argues
against the Gospel.
(2) Exalts itself against
the Lord.
(3) Pride must be
humbled.
(4) Pride of lucifer
caused first rebellion!
2. If Jesus reacted with
pride, playing into satan's
hand.
a) Fought battle with
humility, and lowliness.
(1) Offers were made
He turned them
down!
b) Reacted in the flesh,
misrepresent the
Lord.
(1) May have to live
with this flesh!
(a) Fight our battle in
the Spirit!
III. 2CORINTHIANS 10:7-11

B. Mistaking his servants
heart for "WEAKNESS".
1. Paul never denied he
had authority.
a) Judaisers using the
church to "build up
authority".

a) Mature Christian uses
authority to "grow.
b) Immature Christian
"swells" in use of
authority.

c) Uses authority that it
"earns" respect.

may suffer.
f) Immaturity will act
quickly to relieve pain.
g) Jesus washed the
disciples„ feet.
(1) Spiritual authority
must follow
example of Christ!!!
IV. 2CORINTHIANS 10:12
A. Hard to measure a
miracle!
1. It is His work.
2. His work is a miracle.
B. The Lord's "measuring
stick" different than ours:
1. Perceived themselves
one way but the Lord
saw them another.
a) He told poor church
they were rich!
2. Measure their walks by
how others are doing.
3. Measure our walks by
amount of activity.
4. Churches determine
success by the numbers.
a) Greatest trial you are
growing the most.
b) Could be "social club
for the spiritually
lame".
(1) Not all go to church
for Spiritual
reasons.
(2) Many choose a
church for size!
c) 2Corinthians 10:13-18
(1) Am I doing what the
(a) The Lord assigns
us a "field" of
ministry.
(i) The Lord will
measure our work by
that calling.
(ii) Many never
anywhere long
enough to serve!
(2) Is the lord honored in
(a) Paul would not
boast in another's work
(i) Wives and
husbands depend on
their spouse‟s walk.
(ii) Spend time
looking at "fruit" of
our lives.
(2) Can the lord commend
work I am doing?
(a) "commends" = "to
approve by
testing."
(1) Will what my life
represents -
stand the test!
(b) Does the Lord
praise the work?
V. CONCLUSION
A. Verses 23-28 in Chapter
11 marks a true disciple.
1. Weapons of our
warfare not carnal!!!
a) Fight in the Spirit.
2. Every Christian has
Spiritual authority!
a) Be a servant.
3. Evaluate by scars!
