IMPORTANT Message from the Faculty of Science
To: All PhD Students Public Seminar of PhD Candidate Referring to the email message of September 18, 2007 that the Higher Science Degrees Committee has approved that all PhD candidates should give a public seminar on their work immediately before the oral examination. Please note details below: 1. All PhD students doing oral defense on or after March 1, 2008 will be required to give a public seminar; The seminar will be 40-45 minutes, including a 30-35 minutes Presentation and a 10-15 minutes Q&A session. The student is not required to give another 20 minutes presentation usually given at the start of the oral examination; The persons participated at the Oral Examination [ie TEC Chair, Examiners and Supervisors] will be in presence at the public seminar; The TEC Chair will chair the seminar [to introduce the student and the Q&A session]; and Right immediately after the public seminar, the Oral Examination will be held and it will continue to be held in private.
