Dear Fellow Fire Fighter or first responder,
As the Honorary Spokesman for the climb this year, I would like to personally invite you
( fire/police and first responders ) to join us in a friendly competition and to give you the
opportunity to show your commitment to lung health and clean air, get great training and to
feel great!
On March 19, 2011 I will again be climbing in the third annual Fight for Air Climb at Mohegan
Sun Arena in Wilkes-Barre to benefit the community programs offered by the American Lung
Association (ALA). This event is seeing tremendous success because of its uniqueness and its
test of one's physical strength, stamina and lung power. As the leading lung health agency, the
ALA’s primary objective is to raise public awareness, improve laws and educate the community
about the importance of lung health and healthy air issues.
The Fight for Air Climb event includes a Firefighter/First Responder Division this year.
Last year I participated with other firefighters who climbed the entire arena, both I and some
other were in full gear, to show our support of the work the American Lung Association does to
improve the air we all need to breathe.
Teams can consist of four or more firefighters, family, friends and supporters. Firefighters may
also climb as individuals to challenge themselves. A Traveling Trophy will be given to the Fire
Department Team (of 4 or more team members) who raises the most in donations. Your
teams photo will be taken and it will be submitted to our local newspapers as well.
The American Lung is willing to visit your station to tell you about their organization and this
event and to help you sign up if interested. You may register your Team online
at: lunginfo.org /arenaclimb, (Team Captain registers the team first then the team members
sign up on their team site) or by filling out and returning the attached registration form/s. You
are invited to call Donna Ray-Reifler at the American Lung Association to help you register, add
team photo’s or answer any questions you may have regarding this event.
Any questions? Contact Donna Ray-Reifler from the American Lung Association at 570-823-
2212 or dreifler@lunginfo.org or I would be happy to answer any questions as well!
I hope to see you there!
