Party, Party, Party Food

Let’s celebrate – birthdays, slumber parties, pool parties, garden parties, holiday parties and more through

the world of cooking. There is something for every beginning chef. Enjoy creating slumber party cereal

bars, movie snack mix, hot dog bugs (yuck) and peanut butter and jelly sushi (no raw fish) to name a few

delicious recipes. Come out for 12 days of cooking delight.

Class is limited to 12 students.

Goin’ Bananas for Lego’s

Calling all Lego Builders! If you like to build with Lego’s, this is the class for you. You will work in teams to

create a variety of vehicles to transport bananas, yes bananas!! Your bananas are grown in Ecuador, so how

do they get to Hackettstown? Mmmm….where to begin – that is for you and your team to decide. Come

enjoy this adventurous challenge and have some fun. We will even make some banana smoothies at the end

to celebrate!

Sports Mania

Come play all of your favorite playground games! We’ll enjoy kickball, wiffle ball, jump rope, parachute, red

rover and more.

Eric Carle Collage

Enjoy a different Eric Carle story each day, and then learn how he creates the illustrations for his books. In

this class, we will watch a movie that introduces Eric Carle and how he illustrates and creates his stories.

Then we will paint tissues paper and use them to collage pictures, just like Eric Carle!

Tabletop Games to Go

Build and enjoy games for rainy day enjoyment at your home or for a backyard carnival. Games include:

Football, Bounce Basketball, Tiddlewinks Tennis, Sharpshooter,

Golf, and more!

Itch for a Stitch? Learn Plastic Canvas Stitching



Got an itch for a stitch? Learn how to do plastic canvas stitching, using yarn and a tapestry needle. From the

basic Back Stitch to the expert Algerian Eye Star Stitch, create plastic canvas artwork that will dazzle you,

your friends, and family. Gain stitching skills you can use for this class and beyond!

Spa Science

Pamper yourself while learning the science behind our beauty regimens. Make your own lip balm, experiment

with perfume and create lotions and potions to make your skin silky and smooth. It’ll be a real treat!

Green Goodies

Join us as we learn about the importance of recycling and see what fun we can have “going green.” We’re

going to put our recyclables to good use in this class, creating crafts, instruments, and much more from our

recycled materials.

Let’s Play Wii

Course also offers DDR (Dance Dance Revolution) gameplay as well! Get ACTIVE, be competitive, and have

FUN all while utilizing the Wii game system! Included will be baseball, bowling, tennis, golf, and boxing as

well as many others! Tournaments will be created for those who are interested in competing against their

peers! ONLY 8 STUDENTS WILL BE PERMITTED PER CLASS SO SIGN UP EARLY!!

Rhythm and Dance

Get moving and dancing this summer with this great music and movement class. We’ll move and groove to all

kinds of music, some of it will be our own!

Grade Level: PK-3

Games, Games, Games

Do you like to play board games? Do you want to learn how to play some new ones? Come join us for as we

play some old time favorites like Chutes and Ladders and Bingo, or learn some new games. Play with a team or

challenge someone else. Children will work on counting, following directions, and taking turns. Learn how to

play fairly and come out on top.

Away We Go!

Trucks and Trains, Ships and Planes – Let’s go places with all kinds of transportation. We will build working

models, discover the science behind floating and flying and learn the rules of the road. All aboard for motor

madness!

Water Works!

Explore the amazing power of water by building a landscape and water erosion experiment, create a paddle

boat to race for the finish, enjoy a new twist on a water balloon catch game, take aim with your water

squirter to hit the target and more fun with water!

Marvelous Masks and Playful Puppets

If you like to use your imagination, this is the place to be! Use your creative thinking to design hand puppets,

Mardi - Gras masks, spider puppets, bat masks, animal puppets, alien masks and more! The choices are

unlimited!

Act it Out!

Do you love to act but aren’t ready for the big stage? Then this class is right for you! We’ll enjoy a story

each day, and have fun acting it out! Through music and movement, facial expressions and voice control, we

can re-create the characters in the stories we read. Ready, set, act it out!

Greeting Cards Are Us!

Move over Hallmark. Learn how to create your own personal and unique greeting cards using various materials

and digital pictures. Say “Happy 4th of July”, “I’m Thinking of You”, “Hello Friend” or any other greeting you

desire. Make cards for different occasions with many different materials to impress for less!

The Right K’nexions

Did you ever want to have a chance to put together those HUGE K’nex roller coasters but didn’t have the

space? Come join us in building roller coasters, a Ferris wheel, we well as the buccaneer ride…We will create

the whole carnival on the classroom floor!

Yucky Stuff Cooking

Welcome to the cool world of gooey, slimy, yucky and really strange edible concoctions. The creepy cuisine

will include Horror d’Oeuvres, Slimy Soups, Scary Salads, Main Corpses, Putrid Portions and Dead-zerts. The

recipes are designed to unleash the grisly gourmet buried in everyone. Class is limited to 12 students.

Creature Feature

Slimy, Scaly, Stinky or just plain repulsive – these monsters are waiting to be discovered. We will explore a

variety of misunderstood animals such as sharks, lizards, dinosaurs, and dragons. Then we will take the outer

limits to find Bigfoot, aliens and other mysteries of the living world. Along the way we will read some stories,

do some crafts and learn interesting facts about our featured creatures.

Grade Level: K-3

Pizza Plus

Learn to make real pizza dough and tomato sauce, recipes that will be favorites in your own home. Enjoy

making galaxy pizza, brown tiger pizza, a pizza toadstool, a pizza snail and many more creations. Have tons of

fun making simple variations to create detailed family favorites “PIZZA”. This class is limited to 12

students.

Sign Language Club

Have you ever wanted to learn American Sign Language? Well now here is your chance. Learn how to

communicate without speaking. Sing a song using sign language. Children will learn colors and numbers and

other simple words in a new and exciting way.

Grade Level: K-5

Super Science

Watch science come alive in this workshop. Every day participate in hands-on experiments! These

experiments will not only make you feel like a “mad scientist,” they will help you see that doing science is like

magic. Make tornados, explore the magic of mirrors, mix concoctions, and build molecules using gumdrops.

Come and explore the Fun of Science!

Once Upon a Time

Do you love to write? Do you love to draw? Join us for some creative story-telling and writing. We’ll explore

the world of poetry, and also make our own storybook. We’ll learn some really creative ways to tell a story,

and then…we’ll think up some of our own ways to tell a story…how do other cultures tell a story? Find out

when you take this class!

CSI: Just for Kids!

The “Who Dunnit”? of summer enrichment. Come join us and learn how to fingerprint and analyze crime

scene clues to discover Who Dunnit?

Create It and Cruise It

Welcome back captains and admirals of all ages. After all the success last year’s first ever “Create it and

Cruise it” enrichment program had, we decided to set sail yet again this summer. For first time sailors that

are new to the program “Create it and Cruise it” is a team building exercise that requires hard work,

determination, creativity and the ability to have a lot of fun. Students will be asked to design and construct

a boat out of cardboard that can carry two people from one team across the Hackettstown pool. Best case

scenario each class will have 2 teams of five to seven students (no more than 15 students per class so sign up

early). On the day before competition teams will vote on 2 members to become captains. Captains will be the

first group members to navigate their team’s boat across the pool. Then each member of the group will have

a chance navigate across the pool. The team that crosses the pool the most times on the day of the event will

win the competition. On the day of the competition parents are more than welcome to come and cheer on

their student’s team. I guarantee this will be an experience that your student will never forget. So make sure

to sign up early to guarantee your student’s spot and together we will “Create it and Cruise it”.

Mini Scrapbook-Mighty Message

Transform digital pictures and basic craft materials into a special personal scrapbook that you will cherish.

We’ll take digital pictures, create a theme, and design a mini scrapbook that documents the wonderful,

unique, and awesome person you are. With special lettering, graphics, and basic scrapbook design techniques,

bring pictures to life and reveal the true you.

Be-Dazzled

If you like creating spectacular jewelry and crafts, this class is for you! We’ll make necklaces, bracelets,

headbands, belts, and more. Boys don’t be shy; we can tailor any craft to fit your needs.

Celebrate your pets and pamper them with homemade treats, toys, personalized photo frames and food

scoops, and other pet themed creations!

Beach Ball Gymnastics

A parachute, beach balls, Frisbees, jaili scoops, water balloons, and hoola-hoops are just some of the

fun and exciting activities that will get your heart pumpin’, and get you up and moovin!!!

Bead – Dazzled!

Be dazzled by the jewelry you’ll make in this class! Strengthening fine-motor skills and eye/hand coordination

is fun while stringing beads to create necklaces, bracelets, hair do-dads, and more. We will even have the

opportunity to make some beads of our own using various products such as clay and paper.

Clay Imagination

Calling all creative kids! If you like to create, get messy and use your imagination, this is the class for you.

We will make different forms of clay and modeling dough, shape them into amazing creatures and paint with

bright colors. Let your imaginations SOAR!

Drama

Calling all actors! This year’s drama club performance will be a hit! We have 11 days to rehearse and create

costumes and scenery for our amazing, summer performance on day 12…..July 9th.

Solar Power

Enjoy s’mores, hot dogs, and other treats using your solar cookers. Create sun prints with items found on an

outdoor hike. Sample sun tea punch (no caffeine) and experiment with a sundial to tell the time. It is

”sunsational”!

Ready, Set, Action!

Have you ever thought about directing your own movie? Now you can!! Using a fun interactive website, we

can create movies about anything and everything you want! You get to choose your actors and setting, change

camera angles and control all of the action. You can create short films, animated cards for your family and

friends, or funny jokes to tell.

Spy Science

Would you like to be a spy? Discover some tricks of the trade, make some spy gadgets and learn to send

secret messages and codes. We’re going deep under cover, so be ready to outwit the opposition.

The Poets’ Place

Come celebrate the love of words and poetry by joining us at the Poet’s Place. Use words to make you and

your friends laugh, imagine, and think. Learn to write a variety of poems, including haikus, limericks, cincains

and more. You will work with your classmates to create and publish poems to share in a poetry book that you

design. Then, join us for our Poetry Place Read-Aloud Finale where you’ll show that you’re truly a poet, and

know it!

Delicious Desserts

Too good to be true, if you can’t wait to dig into a sweet treat this class is for you. Make a great tasting

dessert that will be fun to make and yummy to eat. You’re sure to find a tasty treat to satisfy everyone’s

sweet tooth. From chocolate and cherries to ice cream and berries - Which one will be your favorite? This

class is limited to 12 students.

1. All registration will be made through the mail (see below).

2. Please provide a second choice of a class or classes.

3. A $5.00 discount is applied for Hackettstown PTA members (see chart below).

4. A class must have at least eight students to run.

5. The directors reserve the right to cancel classes in the best interest of the program.

6. Even though registration will remain open until the beginning of the Summer

Enrichment program, classes with low or insufficient registration will be cancelled by

Tuesday, June 1, 2010.

6. Refunds will be made only for classes cancelled by the directors.

7. Grade level is determined by the grade your child will enter in September.

8. Unless otherwise notified by phone or email, your child is enrolled in the classes for

which you have registered and paid.
