Love that we want to
consider this morning.

Let’s begin with Jesus statement
• (John 15:13 NKJV) "Greater love has no one
than this, than to lay down one's life for his
friends.
4
What if the Price is too high?
• (Luke 14:26-27 NKJV) "If anyone comes to
Me and does not hate his father and mother,
wife and children, brothers and sisters, yes,
and his own life also, he cannot be My
disciple. {27} "And whoever does not bear his
cross and come after Me cannot be My
disciple.
5
•The Price of the
interrupted life
6
The interrupted home life
• (Mat 8:21-22 NKJV) Then another of His
disciples said to Him, "Lord, let me first go
and bury my father." {22} But Jesus said to
him, "Follow Me, and let the dead bury their
own dead."
7
The Apostles gave up their business
• (Mat 4:18-22 NKJV) And Jesus, walking by
the Sea of Galilee, saw two brothers, Simon
called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting
a net into the sea; for they were fishermen.

will make you fishers of men
8

left their nets and followed Him. {21} Going
on from there, He saw two other brothers,

mending their nets. He called them, {22} and
immediately they left the boat and their
father, and followed Him.
9
Is it worth the
Price?
10
For Demas, the Price was too
high
• (2 Tim 4:9-11 NKJV) Be diligent to come to
me quickly; {10} for Demas has forsaken me,
having loved this present world, and has
departed for Thessalonica; Crescens for
Galatia, Titus for Dalmatia. {11} Only Luke is
with me. Get Mark and bring him with you,
for he is useful to me for ministry.
11
Others were unwilling to pay the
price
• (John 6:66 NKJV) From that time many of His
disciples went back and walked with Him no
more.
12
Sometimes we are called upon to
help one another out.
• (2 Tim 4:11) Only Luke is with me. Get Mark
and bring him with you, for he is useful to me
for ministry.
13
Peter decided to pay the price.
• (John 6:66-69 NKJV) From that time many of
His disciples went back and walked with Him
no more. {67} Then Jesus said to the twelve,
"Do you also want to go away?" {68} But
Simon Peter answered Him, "Lord, to whom
shall we go? You have the words of eternal
life. {69} "Also we have come to believe and
know that You are the Christ, the Son of the
living God."
14
Paul was told he would pay!
• (Acts 9:10-16 NKJV) Now there was a certain
disciple at Damascus named Ananias; and to
him the Lord said in a vision, "Ananias." And
he said, "Here I am, Lord." {11} So the Lord
said to him, "Arise and go to the street called
Straight, and inquire at the house of Judas for
one called Saul of Tarsus, for behold, he is
praying.
15
Paul was told he would pay!
• (Acts 9:10-16 NKJV) {12} "And in a vision he
has seen a man named Ananias coming in
and putting his hand on him, so that he might
receive his sight." {13} Then Ananias
answered, "Lord, I have heard from many
about this man, how much harm he has done
to Your saints in Jerusalem.
16
Paul was told he would pay!
• (Acts 9:10-16 NKJV) {14} "And here he has
authority from the chief priests to bind all
who call on Your name." {15} But the Lord
said to him, "Go, for he is a chosen vessel of
Mine to bear My name before Gentiles,
kings, and the children of Israel. {16} "For I
will show him how many things he must
suffer for My name's sake."
17
Paul Paid the Price
• (2 Cor 11:23-28 NKJV) Are they ministers of
Christ?; I speak as a fool; I am more: in labors
more abundant, in stripes above measure, in
prisons more frequently, in deaths often. {24}
From the Jews five times I received forty
stripes minus one. {25} Three times I was
beaten with rods; once I was stoned; [and
left for dead] three times I was shipwrecked;
a night and a day I have been in the deep
18
Paul Paid the Price
• (2 Cor 11:23-28 NKJV) {26} in journeys often,
in perils of waters, in perils of robbers, in
perils of my own countrymen, in perils of the
Gentiles, in perils in the city, in perils in the
wilderness, in perils in the sea, in perils
among false brethren;
19
Paul Paid the Price
• (2 Cor 11:23-28 NKJV) {27} in weariness and
toil, in sleeplessness often, in hunger and
thirst, in fastings often, in cold and
nakedness; {28} besides the other things,
what comes upon me daily: my deep concern
for all the churches. [that’s love]
20
Was it worth the Price?
• (Rom 8:18 NKJV) For I consider that the
sufferings of this present time are not worthy
to be compared with the glory which shall be
revealed in us.
21
•What is the price
for us?
22
We Don’t know what awaits us!
• (Mat 24:4-13 NKJV) And Jesus answered and
said to them: "Take heed that no one
deceives you. {5} "For many will come in My
name, saying, 'I am the Christ,' and will
deceive many. {6} "And you will hear of wars
and rumors of wars. See that you are not
troubled; for all these things must come to
pass, but the end is not yet.
23
We Don’t know what awaits us!
• (Mat 24:4-13 NKJV) {7} "For nation will rise
against nation, and kingdom against
kingdom. And there will be famines,
pestilences, and earthquakes in various
places. {8} "All these are the beginning of
sorrows. {9} "Then they will deliver you up to
tribulation and kill you, and you will be hated
by all nations for My name's sake.
24
We Don’t know what awaits us!
• (Mat 24:4-13 NKJV) {10} "And then many will
be offended, will betray one another, and will
hate one another. {11} "Then many false
prophets will rise up and deceive many. {12}
"And because lawlessness will abound, the
love of many will grow cold. {13} "But he
who endures to the end shall be saved.

A Description of Love
• (1 Cor 13:4-7 NKJV) Love suffers long and is
kind; love does not envy; love does not
parade itself, is not puffed up; {5} does not
behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not
provoked, thinks no evil; {6} does not rejoice
in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; {7} bears
all things, believes all things, hopes all things,
endures all things.

Is it Worth the
Price?
35
What are the Choices?
–Would you want a world of hate?
–Would you want a world without our
God?
36
Without Our God!
37
Without Our God!
• A world where you cannot mail
something of value because it will be
stolen by those who were in charge of it.
38

41
The Lord’s Questions
• (Mat 16:25-27 NKJV) "For whoever desires to
save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his
life for My sake will find it. {26} "For what
profit is it to a man if he gains the whole
world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a
man give in exchange for his soul? {27} "For
the Son of Man will come in the glory of His
Father with His angels, and then He will
reward each according to his works.
42
What are our Choices?
• Love is expensive, but what is the
alternative?
• Are we willing to give our lives in His service?
• Will we pay the price of love?
43
What’s of greatest value?
44
Final Question
• (Mat 16:26 KJV) For what is a man profited,
if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his
own soul? or what shall a man give in
exchange for his soul?
