In the 11th century, this religion was born out of Islam, unique and different from it in many ways. Even today, it is considered a secret religion for many of the Druze themselves, and only the wise elders are privy to its enigmas and pass it on to future generations in a responsible and calculated manner. This religion forbids paganism, and the Druze are ardent believers in reincarnation. They speak Arabic and live in Israel, Lebanon, and Syria. Those that live in Israel are citizens of the state, speak fluent Hebrew (in addition to Arabic), and many of them serve in Israel's security forces.One of the places where you can enjoy an unforgettable union of Druze culture and gorgeous landscape is the picturesque village of Peki'ln, in the Upper Galilee. It has narrow and charming alleyways, stone houses with flat roofs, winding grapevines everywhere, and a sense that you have travelled through time. Don't miss a visit to the spring square, the village center. Here, under a large strawberry tree, sit by the water and feel the wind blowing through this small and special place. Not far from the square, in one of the alleyways, there is a building named [Diwan Al Mukhtar]. This is a very old stone house that now serves as a humble museum of the local heritage in particular and Druze heritage in general.Other interesting Druze villages are Majdal Shams in the Golan Heights, and the incredibly picturesque Beit Jann in the Galilee, which offers a beautiful view of the area. This village has numerous guesthouses and local tour guides that will acquaint you firsthand with Druze food, customs, and secrets (as much as can be told..)
