Healthy Forests
Wildfires have burned forests in many parts of Florida. As dangerous as fires are, the forests
will grow back. Many of Florida’s forest plants and animals are adapted to fire and actually
need a little fire to grow and flourish. Under normal conditions, fires can create healthy forests
by opening areas that were too thick for other animals and plants. Within a few months, these
