This course introduces military-style training and confidence building, including military weapons firing, rappelling, and other related material. Emphasis is placed on US Army and ROTC organization, leadership and management techniques, principles of war, evolution of weapons, and military tactics. Upon completion, students should be able to identify and explain the basics of military science and put into practice the art of organizing, motivating, and leading others.

This course covers the use of maps and compasses for land navigation, leadership principles and techniques, and military written and oral communication. Topics include orienteering compass techniques, assault boat training, time management, military briefings, and basic survival skills. Upon completion, students should be able to fulfill requirements for entry into the ROTC advanced program and compete for continuing ROTC scholarships. This course emphasizes basic concepts in leadership, team building, and management. Topics include land navigational skills, basic first aid, oral communication, military briefings and personal management skills. This course completes the preparation for accession into the ROTC advanced program. Topics include introduction to the Leadership Development Program (LDP), operation orders, advance land navigation techniques, small unit tactics, and physical training. Upon completion students will be eligible to apply for entry into the ROTC Advanced Program.
