Class Lab Credit POWER MECHANICS Effective Term - Summer 1997 [1997*02] PME 101 Small Engine Repair I Prerequisites: None Corequisites: None 1 15 6 This course covers the rebuilding of small, air-cooled, single-cylinder engines under fifteen cubic inch displacement. Emphasis is placed on complete engine rebuilding, including all internal engine components, following safe shop procedures. Upon completion, students should be able to safely disassemble, repair, and reassemble small engines according to industry standards. This is a diploma-level course. Upon completion, students should be able to safely disassemble, rebuild, install, and test carburetors and fuel systems. This is a diploma-level course. Effective Term - Summer 1997 [1997*02] PME 104 Small Engine Electrical Prerequisites: None Corequisites: None 1 12 5 This course covers ignition, charging, starting, wiring, and safety systems. Topics include fundamentals of electricity, troubleshooting, shop safety, liabilities, and other related topics. Upon completion, students should be able to follow wiring diagrams, and safely test and repair electrical systems on small-engine equipment. This is a diploma-level course. Combined Course Library PME - 1 April 29, 2008 Class Lab Credit Effective Term - Summer 1997 [1997*02] PME 105 Small Engine Power Train Prerequisites: None Corequisites: None 1 12 5 This course covers applied mechanical physics and safe repair and adjustment of small engine powered devices. Topics include mower-trimmer devices; belt, pulley, and chain systems; disc drives; and suspension and steering systems. Upon completion, students should be able to safely troubleshoot, repair, and adjust small engine powered equipment. This is a diploma-level course. Effective Term - Summer 1997 [1997*02] PME 106 Small Engine Transmissions Prerequisites: None Corequisites: None 2 6 4 This course covers the knowledge and skills needed to repair small engine transmissions, transaxles, and right-angle drive systems. Topics include schematics, gears, shafts, bearings, shifter forks, axles, lubrication, and safety procedures. Upon completion, students should be able to safely service, repair, or rebuild manual transmission, transaxles, and right-angle drive systems to industry standards. This is a diploma-level course. Effective Term - Summer 1997 [1997*02] PME 111 Planters and Sprayers Prerequisites: None Corequisites: None 2 6 4 This course introduces planters and sprayers as used in modern agriculture. Topics include setup, calibration, tractor preparation, attachment hardware, and environmental issues. Upon completion, students should be able to set up, adjust, and calibrate sprayers and planters and set up tractors to accommodate attachment hardware. This course is a unique concentration requirement of the Agricultural Systems concentration in the Heavy Equipment and Transport Technology program. Effective Term - Summer 1997 [1997*02] PME 112 Consumer Products Prerequisites: None Corequisites: None 3 2 4 This course introduces garden tractors, equipment, and attachments. Topics include electrical, hydraulic, and power trains and the operation, diagnosis, adjustment, and repair of lawn and turf equipment. Upon completion, students should be able to set up, adjust, diagnose, and repair lawn and garden equipment. . This course is a unique concentration requirement of the Agricultural Systems concentration in the Heavy Equipment and Transport Technology program. Combined Course Library PME - 2 April 29, 2008 Class Lab Credit Effective Term - Summer 1997 [1997*02] PME 113 Const Equipment Repair Prerequisites: None Corequisites: None 1 2 2 This course introduces construction equipment repair. Topics include product identification, care of tools, product nomenclature, fasteners, and proper lifting and blocking of construction equipment. Upon completion, students should be able to identify products and properly block and secure construction equipment. . This course is a unique concentration requirement of the Construction Equipment Systems concentration in the Heavy Equipment and Transport Technology program. Effective Term - Summer 1997 [1997*02] PME 117 Equipment Braking Systems Prerequisites: None Corequisites: None 2 3 3 This course covers fundamental theory, adjustments, and repair of hydraulic and pneumatic braking systems used primarily in mobile construction equipment. Emphasis is placed on braking systems used in construction equipment including pneumatic, hydraulic, dynamic, and inboard brakes. Upon completion, students should be able to use proper diagnostic procedures to identify, repair, or replace components. . This course is a unique concentration requirement of the Construction Equipment Systems concentration in the Heavy Equipment and Transport Technology program. Effective Term - Summer 1997 [1997*02] PME 118 Undercarriage Components Prerequisites: None Corequisites: None 1 2 2 This course covers the fundamentals, function, repair, adjustments, and safety requirements of undercarriage components on track-equipped machines. Topics include identification, measurement, wear points, adjustments, and operation of components on track-equipped machines. Upon completion, students should be able to properly measure, adjust, rebuild or replace undercarriage components. . This course is a unique concentration requirement of the Construction Equipment Systems concentration in the Heavy Equipment and Transport Technology program. Effective Term - Summer 1997 [1997*02] PME 121 Component Controls Prerequisites: None Corequisites: None 2 2 3 This course covers specific operating controls used on modern equipment. Emphasis is placed on the hydraulic and mechanical controls used on power trains. Upon completion, students should be able to identify, diagnose, adjust, and repair control systems used on modern equipment. This course is a unique concentration requirement of the Agricultural Systems concentration in the Heavy Equipment and Transport Technology program. Effective Term - Summer 1997 [1997*02] PME 211 Adv Equipment Repair Prerequisites: None Corequisites: None 2 6 4 This course provides advanced training in equipment repair through hands-on training along with additional training aids. Emphasis is placed on systems and components found on construction equipment. Upon completion, students should be able to adjust, troubleshoot, and repair most construction equipment systems. Topics include pre-delivery, after-sales check, routine servicing, and thousand-hour service. Upon completion, students should be able to locate service points, make minor service adjustments, and perform other routine servicing.
