"Where Do I Go When I am Tired?”
August 8, 2010 Pastor Jim Dunn Psalm 42:1
Christians get tired, weary and dryness is an occupational hazard
of people who serve Jesus Christ. Leaders, like pastors, go
through periods of dryness; good Christian servants go through
seasons of weariness. So where do we go when we are weary?
David understood the weariness of life, the battle of faith, the
heaviness of responsibilities without opportunity for refreshing
one’s life.
Having spent thirty-eight years in ministry, I have seen hosts of
good believers and leaders who have become dry, weary,
confused, perplexed and disappointed or disoriented. When this
happens you feel like something is wrong with you. No, weariness
happens.
During this time we open ourselves to self-condemnation, vulner-
ability, moral failure and sinful decisions that are very unhealthy.
1) In times likes these, what are we to __________?
A. Recognize and admit where you are. See:
Psalm 63:1-4; 107:5-6 and 143:3-9.
2) How do we find the __________________ of
_______________ _______________?
A. The answer to our dryness, weariness and
lost condition is found in Revelation 22:17:
“The Spirit and the bride say, ‘Come!’ And let him who hears
say, ‘Come!’ Whoever is thirsty, let him come; and whoever
wishes, let him take the free gift of the water of life.”
Jesus understands these seasons in our lives for
he cried out, “My God, why have you forsaken
me?” He showed us where and to whom we need
to go when “our soul pants” for refreshing seasons.
