                      What is a Career
                    Readiness Certificate?
    The Career Readiness Certificate is a portable
      credential that promotes career development
      and skill attainment for the individual, and
      confirms to employers that an individual
      possesses basic workplace skills in:
    n reading
    n applied math, and
    n locating information.


    These are the skills that most jobs require.

                                                Career Readiness Certificate
WorkKeys® is a national workforce development system that permits a direct comparison of the skills and levels of
skills needed to perform a job with the skills and levels of skills an individual currently possesses. This certificate
reports an individual’s Applied Mathematics, Locating Information, and Reading for Information levels of skills in
relation to the level of these skills needed in 80% of the jobs and occupations contained in ACT’s WorkKeys®
database. The ACT job profile database now contains thousands of job profiles. This certificate is only awarded
to intervals who meet the performance criterion for Level 5 across all three skill areas. Individuals who perform at
a Level 5 have the following skill proficiencies:

           Where are we in NC in CRC
                   Rollout?
   Ø   State Team members identified and have met
       several times
   Ø   Discussions are taking place with Virginia
       concerning the data base and data collection.
   Ø   Funds have been secured to demo 12 sites.
   Ø   Conversations with the Governors office are
       taking place.
   Ø   Conversations with ACT are taking place for
       licensure agreements for the colleges.
