Alice Project 1
Objective – to learn how to use Do Together and Do in Order. You can do alone or do with a partner. First person will
save this one on their my documents area. Second student will either repeat or choose to do some other object that
walks.
1. Go to My Documents and create a folder called alice-exercises-lastname
2. Create a new world – choose snow
3. Click on ADD Objects – at the bottom scroll to people and
a. CLICK ON FOLDER THAT SAYS WALKING PEOPLE
b. Add object –
i. pick a rockette add one instance
ii. Pick a rockette again and then drag this one to the right
iii. Pick a rockette again and then drag to the far right
iv. Last one – I want you to have four rockets.
c. They begin facing to the right.
d. Click DONE
4. Save as rockettes-act-1 in folder created in step 1.
5. Go to the object area on the upper left and click on each rockette and make sure that rockette is to the far left
and then rockette2, rockette3, rockette4. Best to line up all your rockettes in order
6. Go to object area and click on rockette that is to the far left
7. Drag “say” method into editing area and click other - key in something like “5 6 7 8”
8. Next for second rockette2 choose method turn to right .25 revolution – ENTIRE ROCKETTE
a. On this line right click and copy 3 times
b. Change each line so different rockets do this turn – rockette3, rockette4, rockette
9. Save and play
10. Next go to the bottom of screen and drag the tile Do in order
a. Now for the left rockette drag the method tile walk how far and chose 1 meter
b. Repeat 10a for each rockette in order 2 3 4
c. Now each one will walk forward one meter
d. Save and play
11. Next go to the bottom of screen and drag the tile Do together
a. For left rockette drag the tile turn left and do a half revolution
b. Copy this line 3 times and change the rockette for each line
c. Now together they will turn around
d. Save and Play
12. Next drag another tile Do together
a. For left rockette drage the tile walk and choose 2 meters
b. Repeat 12a for each rockette in order 2 3 4
c. Now they will all walk away 2 meters
d. Save and play
13. Drag tile do in order (one at a time)
a. Get rockette2 to turn right ½ revolution
b. Get rockette4 to turn right ½ revolution
14. Drag tile do together (together)
a. Get rockette to turn right ½ revolution
b. Get rockette3 to turn right ½ revolution
15. Finally add a loop tile to make the rockettes do the same thing 4 times – once in each direction as shown in demo.
