INTRODUCTION OF NEW TELEPHONE CODES

The telephone service code for former Yugoslavia (38) changed on 1 October 1993. On that date, the

following telephone codes came into service:

 Yugoslavia 381

 Croatia 385

 Slovenia 386

 Bosnia and Herzegovina 387

 The Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia 389

Telephone links with the Vatican City State and the Republic of San Marino are now independent of

the Italian network. The telephone code 378 came into effect for the Republic of San Marino on

26 October 1993. The date of introduction of the telephone code 379 for the Vatican City State has not

been set. Regarding Monaco, the new code will gradually replace the country code 33 used so far.

The change should be completed in late 1995 when France will be introducing a new numbering plan.

As from 1 October 1993, the new telephone service code 291 assigned to Eritrea has been in service.
