A. Outline
From August 31, 2006 to September 1, the Digital Opportunity Forum 2006 will be
held at the COEX Intercontinental Hotel in Seoul, the Republic of Korea.
The conference aims to bring together practitioners, researchers and experts from
governments, regulatory agencies, and academic institutions from different countries,
as well as from international and regional organizations, to commemorate the official
inauguration of the Korea IT Learning Program (KOIL) alumni network as the “Digital
Opportunity Forum”. The Conference will discuss two main themes: international
cooperation in ICT development and the development and use of the Digital
Opportunity Index (DOI) as an analytical policy tool.
The Conference will comprise seven sessions each of which will showcase ICT
success stories and policies designed to enhance international cooperation and bridge
the global Digital Divide. The forum will also examine new ways of using the DOI as a
tool to assist policy-makers and regulators in their evaluation of policy and performance
benchmarking.
