Trinh T. Minh-ha: "Colorlust: The Other's Bones, Flesh and Blood" – 9/30/08 The Department of Gender & Women's Studies is launching our Fall Colloquia series on Tuesday, September 30th at 4pm in 190 Barrows with a presentation by faculty member, Trinh T. Minh-ha: "Colorlust: The Other's Bones, Flesh and Blood." What is it that makes both talks and silences stained with shame? Sometimes the mind freezes and the heart goes on fasting: name, nation, identity, citizenship disappear. In the desert, the mind forgets but the body remembers. "With every step, the world comes to the walker, and all around, on the immense screen of life, every event speaks."

The talk will be based on Trinh Minh-ha's two latest works: a book in progress that focuses on the small and large wounds of our time; and Bodyscapes, the work she has been doing in the desert of the American West with architect & photographer Jean-Paul Bourdier, which touches on desert life and uncanny hybrids, on the naked, the nude and the painted body, and on photography as event. We hope that you will join us for this exciting event. For information on future events be sure to check the Gender Consortium Online Calendar at http://gender.berkeley.edu/event_list.php 8. Polyamory workshop by PolyGamers Upcoming Event: Practical Polyamory Workshop Wednesday, September 24th, 7:15pm in 179 Dwinelle Wish you could date multiple people at once, but feel too uncomfortable to try it? Involved with multiple people, but want advice on how to deal with jealousy, boundaries, or communication? Developing relationships with more than one person at once requires honesty, communication, patience, and open-mindedness, but it can be very rewarding. To learn about how to manage multiple relationships, come to PolyGamers' practical polyamory workshop on Wednesday, September 24th, at 7:15pm in 179 Dwinelle. Pepper and Jen, who have years of experience holding responsible non-monogamy workshops, will lead the discussion. Doors will open at 7pm. For details about events, meeting times, and meeting locations, visit our website at http://poly.berkeley.edu or email us at poly@berkeley.edu. Have you ever fallen in love...with multiple people at once? Have you considered getting permission to develop relationships with all of them? Then join PolyGamers, an ASUC-sponsored student group which hosts social activities, discussion groups, and workshops for people interested in polyamory. We provide a safe space where students can learn more about polyamory, discuss their views and experiences, or just hang out. We welcome everyone, from those who are just curious about polyamory to those who have been polyamorous for years. Students may bring their non-student friends and significant others. PolyGamers will hold various events every Tuesday and Thursday for the rest of the semester. 9.
