The aim of this document is to help you, as a member of the Stern community, get started with using the Bloomberg Terminals in School. It will take 45-60 minutes to work through the main body of the document when practicing in front of a Bloomberg Terminal. The supplement should take 10-15 minutes. At the end of the time you will have a basic grounding on how to use the Bloomberg Terminals to access information. Where Are The Bloomberg Terminals? Bloomberg Terminals are located in: • • The Kaufman Management Centre, Robert Menschel and Horace W. Goldsmith Foundation Room 2-101. Tisch, UC-70 Computer Laboratory. Acknowledgements We are indebted to our classmate Brian Yin for his expertise and guidance in putting this document together. The training provided by Lizzy Schulzinger and Eric D’Alessandro of Bloomberg LP during the Stern GFA / STR Club session of April 7th 2006 was also invaluable. Any errata are of course entirely our own. It is a good skill to be able to bring information to hand and we hope this document serves you well. -Alex Ho -Steve Loeys Page 3 of 24 Conventions Used in this Document The Bloomberg terminal keyboards in school emulate those you would see in an investment bank. This is the quickest way of finding things whether company or security code, function, person, etc that you don’t know the Bloomberg code for.
