You will be in charge of capturing people’s most precious life moments. The wedding day is not the place to
learn photography.

Just because you got a brand new camera it does not automatically make you an effective and reliable photographer.
Photography goes beyond cool toys and gadgets. Learn composition and develop a unique artistic vision. Some of
the great photographs of all time were taken with manual cameras. Let the camera become an extension of you.

Share your technical knowledge and make connections with other wedding photographers. Participate in wedding
photography image competitions. It will give you the opportunity to have your work evaluated by peers and the
motivation to improve your work quality.

Learn something new everyday. Take advantage of professional photography organizations. Attend their seminars,
workshops. Participate in Internet wedding photography forums, visit photography blog such as
photovideoshootingmurah.com and learn and share tips, tools and techniques. Don’t neglect the business aspect of
wedding photography. Learn to manage your business effectively. Take business courses and seminars.

Your wedding is one of the biggest days of your life and one of the few occasions where everyone who is close to you
will be there to celebrate with you. There is an incredible amount of planning required for a wedding and everything
culminates on a single day.

One of the big factors every talks about is the cost. Everything costs, and it appears all at inflated prices. Wedding
photography is one of the essential costs, or is it? The average wedding photographer charges anywhere between
??1000-??2000 for the days coverage. This can seem extortionate to many, at the end of the day, the photographer
is only taking pictures are they not?

With so much riding on one day, can you afford not to have a professional cover your day? Many couples trying to
save on their budget consider having their family and friends take pictures during the day and making an album from
the pictures. This is certainly an option but the pictures from a professional photographer is instantly recognisable
from those who are amateurs. It is unlikely that your family and friends will have this.

One aspect of wedding photography couples do not realise is that they are not just hiring the photographer for a
whole days work. The real work starts after the wedding itself. There is a lot of editing involved. A photographer may
typically take between 2000-3000 images on the day. All of these need to be edited down to perhaps between 300-
500 images. These may then be further hand edited in photoshop to get the best out of them. This can be 2-3 days
worth of work. If there is an album included in the package, then that needs to be designed by hand and can take
another days work!

So you can see, there is a lot of work involved and not just on the day itself. The most important thing to bear in mind
is that the wedding day itself will last a day, the cake will last a day but the wedding photographs will last a
lifetime. It is a true investment, one where the images will be looked at for many, many years ahead. So, the average
cost of wedding photography compared to something like the wedding cake is quite a bargain!
