THIS PRESENTATION IS
ABOUT THE SCHOOL
COUNCIL AT
LIGHTWOODS PRIMARY
The council was created by our deputy head; Mr
P Robinson, to make improvements on our
school.
The School Council have already made many
major improvements to the school eg. Sports
Hall, and the new car park on Castle Road East.
• Everyone in each
class (apart from
reception) voted
for two people to
be their class
representatives.
• Until a few years
ago the only
members of the
council were year
six.
Here is an example of an agenda:

• Every month or so, we have council
assemblies.
• That’s when all the council talk about the
things they have discussed in meetings and
tell the rest of the school.
• Then, we ask the school if they have any
enquiries.
• We then talk about the enquiries in our
meeting after the assembly.
We have regular meetings.
We talk about the things
that have been said in
the council assembly.
If they want something for
the school, we often talk
about it for a while and
then decide if we are
having it or not.
• Most of the school council members have different
types of jobs. Here are some examples and what they
are.
• Treasurer: The treasurer keeps track of all the money
the school council has.
• Chairperson: Every time we have a meeting, we have a
chairperson. He/she is in charge of the meeting and
brings in new things to talk about.
• Secretary: this person makes notes and produces
minutes on our meetings
• Sometimes, we receive packs about charities and
organisations.
• We help to raise money by taking part in, and
organising, an event, a show or fun day.etc.
• This year we have had packs from charities like Sports
Relief, helping blind people and more.
• One of our best events was a penny event.
• Everyone in the school had to bring pennies and line
them up and then they were counted.
• We hope to help more and more organisations in the
future
