A Letter From Your President
2011 is upon us, I can’t believe the installation banquet is just about here. Hope everyone has their calendars marked for Jan 22.
When I accepted the position of Chamber President, I thought I knew what I was getting myself into; I was on the board & had been a part of
Retail Merchants for many years. Boy was I wrong! The position doesn’t come with an instruction manual, and we had a new executive di-
rector. Both of us had so many questions and we started asking them. All the questions that were asked & the issues brought up were pre-
sented to the board for a discussion & a vote. The board’s goals are to protect the Chamber and to be consistent and fair to our members.
Long before I became President the discussion arose about our community events, they were being run by handful of people & they were
struggling. This year with our members stepping up we have our newly formed Community Event Committee. With our new committee and
the community support, I know the events will grow to be even greater.
I’m still asking questions. One is looking at our fundraisers. I want new ideas to raise funds so we don’t, “nickel & dime” our members at
every event. I want to find new ways to promote our member’s businesses. If we are doing our job no one will have to ask “Did you know they
offered that? “ We all will continue to work to improve the Chamber.
Through all of this year’s ups and down I’m proud of our board. We have a diverse board with everyone bringing something different to ta-
ble, but always working towards a better Chamber.
I THANK Lori, for always being there for me, no matter what. I thank my husband for putting on a tie (which he hates) & going out to nu-
merous dinners. - Lisa

Desert Mountain Visitor Center January 2011 Sale Item-20% Off Through January 31
Let’s toast in 2011 with all the appropriate trimmings. The Christmas season is over and now it’s time to plan our
new year and what we will be doing thru the year. We can all plan on what to do for New Years Eve and who we’ll
spend it with. Here at Desert Mountain Visitors Center we have all the goodies for the occasion. We have 7 different
kinds of shot glasses, two different types of Air Force shot glasses, one in black and the other with the Air Force em-
blem. We have two different types of potato shot glasses, one has a spuddy buddy and the other has a burlap motif
with little Idaho shapes on them and includes the slogan “famous potatoes”. We also have a hand made one from
Idaho that resembles a raw potato. To top it off we have one that is all in green with the state of Idaho on it and last
but not least, we have a fisherman’s shot glass with all the “lying” sizes available. We are proud of the variety in shot
glasses and we are sure to have one to suit your tastes. Come in and see what else we might have to round off your
