Strategies of the Hutchison Telecommunications (Hong Kong) Limited
At the end of 2002, Hutchison Telecommunications (Hong Kong) Limited
announced that it had signed a contract with Ericsson to outsource seven years of
managed services worth totally 1.2 billion kronor (144 million dollars) to the latter.
According to this contract, Hutchison will hand over the 2G and 2.5 G networks and
the 3G network to put in operation early this year in Australia to Ericsson to operate,
manage and maintain for it as well as manage the relevant staff members for it.
Hutchison claimed that this arrangement will help it to focus its energy on the content
service, customer management and relevant applications of the coming 3G network,
and expected this arrangement to help it cut off 45 million Australian dollars (about 20
million dollars) of OPEX in the next seven years.
