Worked on a variety of engagements for insurance companies and other financial institutions. Primary focus on
financial systems automation, custom reporting and establishing adequate internal controls over systems.
Projects include:
 Establishing solid controls, implementing a new ledger system, and reorganizing the entire external financial
    reporting function for a publicly traded property and casualty insurer.
 Eliminating a major control weakness in claims processing for one of the largest US health insurance
 Resolving a significant control weakness in the billing processes for the second largest TPA in the United
    States. Implemented a new billing system. Designed and implemented several significant enhancements to
    address very unique processing requirements for several major customers of the TPA.

March 1987 to May 1998: Wellpoint Health Networks Inc. (Blue Cross of California), Woodland Hills CA
 User representative for the project team that installed a Client-Server reporting system (GEAC) to greatly
   enhance SBU access to financial information.
 Manager of Corporate Financial Systems Department with an annual budget of $900,000.
 Blue Cross Project Manager for re-implementation of the MSA Accounting System to account for a massive
   corporate restructuring from a functional organization to Strategic Business Units.
 Winner of President’s Award for creating the Quality Assurance reporting system.
 Completely redesigned a complex cost allocation system to accommodate profitability analysis and Medicare
   cost accounting.
 Installed the LAN for Corporate Finance.
 Worked extensively to improve automation of Cash Disbursements, 1099 Reporting and Bank Reconciliations.
April 1984 to May 1986: Transamerica Insurance Company, Los Angeles CA
Responsible for implementing the ISA financial systems for this diverse and complex insurance enterprise.
Designed all of the automated interfaces for data passed to the financial systems. Supported all mainframe
financial reporting. Managed a staff of 10 and an annual budget of $1.3 million.
August 1979 to March 1984: Insurance Systems of America, Atlanta GA
Worked on site with a variety of clients for the initial implementation of the ISA/ABC (Accounting, Budget and
Cost) system and ISA/CDS (Cash Disbursement) system. Duties included operations design, planning,
implementation, program modification, training, and documentation. Created a major enhancement which was
added as new feature of the system. Acted as a mentor and as a “hands on” installer for turn key projects. Last
project was Farmers Insurance in Los Angeles.
August 1973 to August 1979: Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta GA
Responsible for the daily accounting functions of the Institute. Managed Payroll, Cashiers, Office, and Accounts
Receivable. Heavily involved in system changes, including system analysis and programming.
