“Promotion and Application of Information and Communication

II. INTRODUCTION
Many MSMEs of different economic sectors are already taking advantage of the benefits of
using ICT to develop new ways of doing business that allow them to have more information to
make better decisions, access new markets and clients, differentiate from the competition and
be more profitable. In other words, ICTs allow MSMEs to differentiate themselves from
competitors by using innovative value proposals.
The MSMEs that recognize the strategic value of ICTs have had better results and heads of
these enterprises now run more successful, dynamic and competitive businesses.
Other enterprises are limited to systematize their internal processes (like accountability and
payroll) in search of reducing costs that, in the best case scenario, just improves their capacity
to survive but does not provide complete competitive advantages.
The MSMEs’ responsables raise the following questions:
- Are ICTs a useful tool for any kind of business?
- How to implement ICTs in my business model?
- How to gurantee the success of information systems implementation?
- What is the role that a MSME’s entrepreneur has in the technology management?
III. OBJECTIVES
- To analize which business advantages does ICTs contribuye in MSMEs.
- To understand how to guarantee ICT implementation’s success and profitability.
- Identify what and how much does the MSME entrepreneur must know to efficiently
conduct his enterprise to the digital era.
