Subject: [All_faculty] Instructions on how to Access Moodle (for students)
Dear faculty,
I hope this email finds you well.
Tomorrow our classes start again and we will have returning and new students coming to
Dawson.
I have prepared a short tutorial (attached to this message) explaining how students should login
to Moodle.
Important Note:
* New Students: The student ID number starts with "1"
* Returning Students (2000 - 2009): Their student ID number starts with a "0" (zero)
New students should login to to the Novell network (physically at Dawson) before they can log in
to Moodle.
Please contact me if you have any question.
Have a nice afternoon.
Regards,
Rafael Scapin

How to Access Moodle (Students)
NEW STUDENTS
New students should do the following procedure in order to access Moodle:
1) Login to the Novell network:
Login: student ID number
Password: date of birth (dd/mm/yy)
New students will be asked to change this password the first time they login. If
they skip this, they won’t be able to login again and should go to 2H.12 or 5B.5 with a
Dawson ID card or their registration (no other documents will be accepted).
2) Logging in to Moodle:
After logging in to the Novell network, they can log in normally to Moodle. Important:
They cannot log in to Moodle before they log in to the Novell network.
How to Login to Moodle:
In order to login to Moodle, students can go to Dawson website and select Moodle on
the Quick Links menu under Online Classrooms. Alternatively he/she can go directly to:
http://moodle.dawsoncollege.qc.ca
Login: their student ID number (ex.: 101234) IMPORTANT: New students have their
ID numbers starting with “1”.
Password: the same password they changed when logged on to the Novell network
Once logged in, you'll see the profile page:
Put your e-mail address where it says "Email Address*", double-check the spelling, and
then click the "Update Profile" button at the bottom of the page.
NOTE: Make sure you enter a valid e-mail address: you will not be able to login to
Moodle if your e-mail address is incorrect.
After clicking "Update Profile", you should see this page:
Log into the e-mail account that you provided.
You'll get an e-mail that looks like this:
Click the link in the e-mail. You'll be taken to this page:
Click "Continue" and log back in. You should now be able to access Moodle.
E-mail moodlehelp@dawsoncollege.qc.ca if you are still having difficulties.
RETURNING STUDENTS
Returning Dawson students are already on Moodle’s database.
In order to login to Moodle, they can go to Dawson website and click on Moodle on the
Quick Links drop-down menu (under Online Classroom)
Alternatively he/she can go directly to:
http://moodle.dawsoncollege.qc.ca
Login and password are the same they used for access in the computer labs (Novell
network).
Important Information on Login for Returning Students:
Students with student ID numbers between the years 2000 and 2009 may have
problems logging in.
Their ID numbers original started with an "A". We have changed the "A" to "0" (Zero).
We have posted signs around the labs, in the Daily Bulletin and on their MYDawson
home page. Students should substitute a zero for their a's. If they are still having
problems, they can get assistance at either of the Computer Help Desks in 5B.5 or
2H.12.
Login: their student ID number (ex.: 091234)
Password: the same password they use to log in to the Novell network
