      FLOOR PANELS.
1. GENERAL

1.1 DOCUMENTS
Documents generally relating to in this section are:

NZS 3103 Sands for mortars and plasters
      NZS 3109 Concrete construction

There are no New Zealand Standards that relate to Autoclaved Aerated Concrete (AAC)
      specifically.

1.2 MANUFACTURER’S DOCUMENTS
Manufacturers’ and supplier’s documents relating to work in this section are:
      CSR Hebel Technical Handbook.
Lightweight Concrete NZ Ltd. Hebel Structural Floor Panels.
Copies of the manufacturers literature are available by phoning Lightweight Concrete NZ
      Ltd~ (03) 455 1502

1.3 QUALIFICATIONS
Carry out all installation of the precast concrete panels with people competent and
experienced in this type of work, No specific AAC qualifications are required, however the
contractors shall have had instruction and training from Trained Hebel Instructors and/ or
other experienced Hebel installers. All personnel operating cranes shall hold the
      appropriate certification.

1.4 INSPECTION
Call for inspection of the work at critical stages including set out of reinforcing starters,
completion of panel and reinforcing placement at the time prior to and during grouting.
The design engineer or his nominated representative will certify that the steelwork is
placed in accordance with the design.

2. PRODUCTS

2.1 FLOOR PANELS
      Brand ~CSR Hebel
Width ~ 600mm may be site or factory cut to 300mm minimum
      Thickness ~200mm generally (150, 175, 225, 250mm also available)
Edge profile ~Bevelled rebate and groove ring anchor

2.2 REINFORCEMENT- RING ANCHOR STEEL
D12 steel reinforcing shall be site placed in the Ring Anchor groove and around any bond
beam requirements, as per Engineer specification.

2.3 THICK BED MORTAR (FOR LEVELING THE PANELS ONLY)
Use the Brighton Drymix pre-batched mortar supplied. If extra site mixed mortar is
needed use a 6:1:1 mix (sand to NZS 3103). Chloride levels to not exceed 0.04% by dry
weight of sand. Compressive strength shall be not less than 12.5 Mpa. Mortar is for
      levelling any slab irregularities.

2.4 GROUT FOR RING ANCHOR GROOVES
      Sand /cement mix. Spread value 450 - 530mm.
      Maximum aggregate size 6mm
Design strength- 15 MPa at 28 days.

2.5 WATER
Clean, fresh and free from excess alkali, salt, silt and organic materials. Water from a
local authority water supply is acceptable.

2.6 DAMPPROOFING
Any Hebel Wall Panels seated upon conventional concrete must have a Bituminous damp
proof course membrane, such as Bitumac Malthoid DPC placed between the two types of
concrete to act as a slip joint and allow for differential movement, including drying
shrinkage. Lay the DPC over the foundation, to the perimeter and along the lines of all
internal walls. Neatly cut around all starters. The DPC creates a slip joint and also
provides a moisture barrier to protect the Hebel panels from dampness. As such, the roll
of DPC should be the same width as the wall thickness.

3. EXECUTION

3.1 STORAGE
Store all panels clear of the ground, under cover (plastic wrapping) and well ventilated
       until placed in the work.

3.2 MOISTURE CONTENT
Ensure that the Hebel Panels are air dry prior to placing. Excessive moisture at the joints
may not allow the adhesive to bond correctly.

3.3 CHECK BASE CONCRETE
Ensure the supporting base concrete is true to line and level, requiring a base mortar bed
of 10mm (minimum) to 20mm (maximum). The Thick Bed Mortar is laid over the DPC
and is used to level the first run of floor panels, if required.

3.4 PROPPING
Floor panels shall be propped at mid span on wind-up adjustable props. Place a support
board 200x50 or similar under the panels with propping at 2 metre centres. Use the prop
winder to ensure a level floor surface, prior to grouting the ring anchor.

3.5 COVER
Reinforcing rods should be located centrally within the grout of the ring anchor

3.6 TOLERANCES
Refer to Engineers notes for acceptable dimensional tolerances

3.7 PANEL LIFTING AND PLACING
Use the CSR HEBEL floor panel cradle attached to a crane to lift and place floor panels
horizontally. Instruction in the use of this attachment will be provided by the panel
       supplier.

3.8 PRE-GROUTING INSPECTION
The engineer and Hebel distributor shall Inspect the ring anchor reinforcement prior to
grouting. Ensure grooves have been cleared of all Hebel debris and that grout can flow
       freely around the rods

3.9 GROUTING OF FLOOR PANEL RING ANCHOR GROOVES
Use a sand/cement grout. All D12 reinforcing in the ring anchor should be supported on
lumps of concrete to ensure that they remain centrally located in the groove while
grouting. Apply grout with a hand trowel and slightly over fill. Once initial shrinkage has
taken place, scrape the grout flush with the panel surface. Alternatively, fill flush with the
floor surface and allow shrinkage to dish the grout. Then skim render with Hebel High
Build Render over the shrunk back grout.

3.10 REMOVAL OF MATERIALS
Remove from the site materials not used. Excess stock delivered to the site belongs to
the Hebel supplier as per the supply contract. Dispose of all cut & damaged panel and
       block.
