Skatelite Introduces Hemplite Earth-Friendly Skate Ramp Surfaces
Surface Material Adds Environmental Element to City and Private Skate Park Projects
TACOMA, Wash. (Feburary 14, 2003) – Skatelite, a manufacturer of premium skate ramp
surfaces preferred by the world’s top professional skateboarders and BMX riders, today
introduced Hemplite, a super durable and environmentally friendly alternative for city and private
skate park builders. Hemplite is made with fibers from fast-growing, environmentally sustainable
abaca, a palm-like plant grown in The Philippines and Ecuador. Similar fibers have been used in
textiles for more than 6,000 years. It’s estimated today that more than 25,000 products are
made with abaca fibers. Hemplite is the first ramp surface to incorporate the material.
Hemplite is practically indestructible and has the same characteristics as Skatelite Pro, the
gold standard in ramp surfaces used in top competitions like the X Games and Vans Triple Crown.
It’s weatherproof, fire resistant, and unaffected by paint thinners and cleaning fluids. Hemplite
comes in ¼” thick 4’x8’ sheets and is available for sale through Skatelite’s preferred network of
professional ramp builders. For more information or to locate a Hemplite dealer, call toll-free 888-
383-5533, or e-mail skatelite@richlite.com.
