The Concept of the Family in International Human Rights Law
Dinusha Panditaratne
Visiting Fellow, Centre for Comparative and Public Law Ms Panditaratne will discuss human rights norms pertaining to families, and explore the cultural underpinnings of these norms. In particular, she will discuss the extent to which these norms reflect western or European conceptions of the family. Ms Panditaratne is a Visiting Fellow with CCPL. She has a BA in Jurisprudence from Balliol College, University of Oxford, and an LLM from Yale Law School. Before coming to Hong Kong, she practised law for three years at an international law firm in New York. Her research and publications focus on human rights, constitutional rights, gender equity, and international humanitarian law. She is the co-editor of The Draft Constitution of Sri Lanka: Critical Aspects (1998).
