- Created in 1988
- 24 Member States
MISSIONS
To coordinate the efforts of the
African States on Cartography and
Remote Sensing
MISSIONS OF THE ORGANIZATION :
a. To promote the development and to
ensure coordination of the activities of
Cartography and Remote Sensing
b. To encourage the establishment of
relations between the member States
c. To be held informed on the potentialities
installed in Africa
d. To support the development of sciences of
the Surveys, Cartography and Remote
Sensing
g. To deal with the high level training
in collaboration with the cooperating
organizations.
h. To work with the African
organizations, Organisation of African
Unity, Economical Commission for
Africa and with the Member States to
ensure the coordination of the projects
which are regional or continental
character.

Objective 1: Implementation of the
Terrestrial Reference Frame for the North
Africa region by:
To inventory all the geodetic data available
in this area,
To carry out the complementary GPS
measures on the six countries
To install permanent Stations GPS
To proceed to the treatments (data
processing)
Objective 2: Determination of the
local Geoid on the région
To inventory the Gravimetric data
available in this area,
To carry out the complementary
gravimetric measures on the six
countries
To install absolute gravimetric stations
To proceed to the whole treatments
Objective 3: Putting in place the
Institutionnal Framework for
implementing NAFREF Project
