Post Title:                   Domestic Assistant

Responsible to:               Domestic Manager

Job scale:                    £6.57 per hour                                Status: As and when

Purpose of the job:           The Domestic Assistant is involved in all activities relating to
                              the cleaning of the college, the reporting of maintenance
                              problems and health and safety hazards.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities of your Job Role:

The following key tasks and responsibilities summarise the main aspects of the job:

Rooms / Areas                      All hygiene aspects within their designated area of work.
                                   The identification and reporting of any maintenance
                                    problems within their area of work.
                                   The immediate reporting of any health and safety hazards
                                    seen within the College.

                                   The correct use of all cleaning equipment and materials
Equipment                           including the cleaning cupboard.
                                   The requesting of cleaning equipment and materials as
                                    required to complete their job correctly and to College
                                    standards.

                                   To maintain suitable cleaning products (i.e. toilet cleaner )
Stocks/ Supplies.                   within their cleaning cupboard by requesting them as
                                    required.
                                   To ensure all stocks are correctly stored to College
                                    standards.
Other Duties

         It is a requirement of this post that you will act responsibly and comply with your
       duties and responsibilities as identified in all College policies and procedures,
       copies of which are on the Sharepoint system, and in particular the following areas:

             -   Health and Safety and in particular reporting any defective or unsafe
                 equipment, materials or practices
             -   College Risk Management by reporting any potential risks to your line
                 manager
             -   Implementation and commitment to Diversity and Equality
             -   Any legislation to which the College is bound by law
             -   Quality process both internal and external
             -   If you are working with hazardous substances / chemicals which are
                 regulated under the COSHH Regulations this may require you to
                 undertake health surveillance.

          All staff are also required to undertake professional development by participating
       in any internal staff development activities. There is also a duty to ensure that you
       participate in any appropriate personal professional development to support the
       College’s Strategic Plan.

         Staff are required to be involved in cross college activities such as enrolment
       and open days when appropriate to their role
