Introduction:
This Candidate Guide will help you maneuver through the Siemens screening process by teaching you
step-by-step processes and functions.

Siemens Screening/Selection Process
 Siemens Energy has several steps in their screening process:

 Job Interest Form completed by candidate

            Candidate invited to Phase I Pre-Employment – 3 Assessments

 Candidate invited to Phase II Pre-Employment – 2 Assessments

 Successful candidates are placed in a “Pool” to be possibly interviewed – based on their
             skills/experience

 Welding Candidates invited to Phase IV Pre-Employment – 1 Assessment

 Pre-Employment allows the company to learn more about a candidate and for the candidate to
     learn more about the company.

 The Selection Process is Automated: You will need to be able to move around the internet and
use basic Windows features, such as, Copy/Paste and Open New Window.

PHASE I - INSTRUCTIONS:

After one week from entering your CRC scores you will want to log back into the Siemens website –
three different tags could be issued:

   1. You are invited to Phase II Pre-Employment – for this message to display your scores has been
validated and you earned a Silver (at least 4s in all three assessments) or higher certificate. You
will have the option to schedule for Phase II.

           a. If there are no dates remaining, simply check back daily until you can schedule yourself
              into Phase II.

   2. Your scores could not be validated – this message appears when either the Certificate ID is
incorrect or you failed to make your scores public – go back to page 10 for those instructions.
You will need to re-enter your Certificate ID and submit. WARNING: You only have one more
chance to submit the scores correctly before being locked out of the system.

   3. You did not earn a Silver Certificate – You will need to retest in the assessment that you scored
a 3 or less than <3. Upon successful completion of earning a Silver or higher certificate, you will

Frequently Ask Questions: (FAQs)

   1. I created my WorkKeys® account, but I cannot see my scores, what do I do?

       A. Your scores are not displaying due to the following reasons:

               a. You created your WorkKeys® account different than the way you “bubbled-in” your
data on the answer document. ** Remember that there are no spaces or hyphens
                  in the examinee ID. **
                        i. Login to your WorkKeys® account and click on “Update Match Criteria” –
make the necessary changes by filling in field 2.
ii. If you cannot figure out what may be different call 1-800-WORKKEY to see if
they can find you in the database.
iii. If they cannot locate you - you can submit an email to the address located
on the Siemens site when you login.

               b. You did not completely fill in the 5 match criteria fields when filling in your answer
document or left off the form and booklet number of the test.
                      i. Unfortunately, your answer document could not be scored, because of the
missing data. It will be your responsibility to retest. Go to
www.cpcc.edu/crc to see a schedule and registration information.

               c. Other information on the answer document may have been mis-bubbled.
                      i. Call 1-800-WORKKEY and see if they can find you in the database.
ii. If they cannot locate you - you can submit an email to the address located
on the Siemens site when you log in.

   2. Why does the Siemens site tell me that my scores cannot be verified?

       A. You either did not submit the Electronic Certificate ID correctly OR you did not make your
certificate public. Please refer to pages 7-10 of this guide for help.

      Silver?

          your assessment.

       A. Central Piedmont Community College charges $10/each for the three assessments that

   7. How do I prepare for these assessments?

       A. There are many ways to prepare for the WorkKeys® assessments.

               a. Go to www.workkeys.com and click on Practice Tests for $5/each. This is a good
way to see what an assessment looks like.
               b. Go to www.cpcc.edu/crc and click on CRC/TA schedule and look for the link under
“How to Prepare.” The link will take you to WIN a company that has both written
and online training tools. Prices vary.

       B. To prepare for the Blue Print assessment you can call CPCC Customer Service line and ask

           Customer Service: 704-330-4223.

   8. Do I have to take the Blueprint reading class before I take the blueprint reading test?

       A. No. Siemens does not require you to take the blueprint class. This is an option to help you
prepare, if you have not had experience reading machining prints.

   9. What does it mean that I have to go to retest in Applied Technology?

       A. You attend Phase II Pre-Employment and you passed the Blue Print reading test, which is
the “golden ticket” for Siemens. However, you must also pass Applied Technology – score a

Last Revised: 5/6/2011 P a g e | 18
Level 4 or higher. Remember that <3 means less than 3, which is not passing. It is your
responsibility to a retest in Applied Technology, at your local area community college, and
pay the testing fee in order to move into the candidate pool. Once you have passed AT, you
will need to print and mail your Applied Technology Score sheet as instructed on the
Siemens Website to: CPCC Harris Campus – PO Box 35009 – Charlotte NC 28208 – Attn:
           Karla Shields.

   10. Where do I go to get my blueprint reading test score?

       A. You do not go anywhere to get this score. The actual score is not available to you – only a
Pass or Fail indicator, which is located in your Siemens site. Please refer to pages 14 or 16
where it describes the different tags you will be placed in after completing these training
          sessions.

   11. How do I retrieve my Applied Technology score sheet?

       A. Please refer to page 15 in this guide for step-by-step instructions.

   12. What is the candidate pool?

       A. Once you have successfully completed Phase I (Silver or higher Certificate) and II (Level 4 or
higher in Applied Technology and 60% or higher in Blueprint) you are tagged to be
considered for interview. Considered for interview does not guarantee an interview. To
be considered your skill sets would need to match the skill sets that are required for the
          “open jobs” in the plant.

   13. How long can I expect to wait before being called in for an interview?

       A. It can take as long as one month. The interview timeline is based on you meeting the skill
sets that are needed for a job that is opened.

   15. Can I call CPCC for questions in regards to my Siemens or WorkKeys® account?

       A. No. All questions/concerns can be directed by email to karla.shields@cpcc.edu . All emails
will be responded to within 5 business days. Please refer to the candidate guide before
emailing. Most questions/concerns are addressed in this guide.

   16. Are there any other assessments after Phase II?

       A. Yes, only for welders. If Siemens identifies you as a welder (based on the questions you
answered on your job interest form) you may be invited to Phase IV Pre-Employment, which
          is the NCCER written test.
