basis, since break-up of the ILEA in 1990.
Service is fully funded from trading account
income with no central funding.

Currently have a team of six support officers.
Just launched a technician service, for minor
problems and maintenance issues, which
schools can sign up to by the hour per week.

Admin. Officer’s PC using PC Anywhere.
Discontinued in 2000 due to security issues,
cost of upgrading software and limited use.

London Grid for Learning provides high speed
borough wide network.
Single borough wide IP address range.
Considered it technically possible to connect to
school servers & PCs.

Ensure that all schools are using the favoured
IP scheme.
Network Address Translation {NAT} will restrict
easy access.
Resolve any Firewall issues at the Town Hall.

Curriculum and Administration servers are on a
single physical network.
All servers are Windows 2000 / 2003 with static
IP addresses.

Support staff use RDP to access either server
at the school.
VNC, or NetOp, then used to move on to other
machines on network.
