A technology leader must know several things when talking about adding technology to a classroom. As
money gets less and less in our schools and school systems, technology leaders must know what
products are needed and even more about the product’s technical details and cost. Leaders need to
make sure the equipment will work with what they have and it will have a long life in the classroom.
You also need to know what type of information you will need for your district or if you use a grant,
what type of information they will need.

Here are your guiding questions:

   1. Make a list of at least 3 products would you need in your classroom.
      A. Clickers
      B. Digital Cameras
      C. Wireless Microphone & Wireless Handheld Microphone

   2. Rate the order you would purchase these products. Why did you rate them in this order?
I would leave them in the order above, because our school is focusing on Formative and
Summative Assessment because it would allow me to do ongoing assessments throughout the
year is a quick method. This would allow me to re-test students ongoing throughout the year
without taking up time for paper/pencil and loading tests on every computer.

   3. You are now ready to do a little more research on the product your rated number 1. Most
systems and some grants require 3 bids.

       1. You need this information for each bid: Clickers

                Lightweight and compact

                f. Additional costs like bulbs, ink, frames, etc.: Batteries for Each Clicker

4. Remembering the cheapest is not always the best, which bid would you want to use? Why?

I would choose the second choice because of the price and for the variety of activities you can do with
particular model. It offers Normal Quiz, Rush Quiz, Elimination, Vote/Inquiry, Grade, Ad-Lib Quiz, Hand-
Raise. This model could also be boxed up, placed on a cart and moved from room to room for teachers
to use throughout the entire school.

5. Sometimes we want technology because we want it. One important question is “What students’
needs are met with this piece of technology?” How are those needs met?

This would allow the children to answer Summative and Formative Assessments without having to
waste valuable class time in passing out paper/pencil and then having to compile the papers, grade
them and then record them.

This would be perfect for students who are in our ECE classes, as we have 3 different ECE units within
our school, but only 2 of the 3 classes have assistants to help with testing in the classroom. I think this
would eliminate the stigma with children having to “write” answers when they have problems with
writing answers for whatever reason.
