Attorneys
Pre-Trial Preparation:
Step 1: Review background information including careful reading of Chapters
22.4, 23 and 24. I recommend you review the research of the justices and the witnesses.
You may wish to divide up the research with your legal team. Write notes of key
information and cite your sources
Step 2: Meet with your witnesses and help them prepare and become familiar with
their testimony.
Step 3: Meet with your legal team to divide up the trial work: Your team will need
to deliver an opening and closing argument and question and cross examine witnesses.
Step 4: Meet with the Justices and opposing attorneys to clarify Trial procedures
and share your witness list.
Step 5: Write out your statements and /or questions you may ask your witnesses
and the other witnesses. Inform and prepare your witnesses! Practice!!!
Leave space in these notes for Step 6!
Trial Procedures:
Step 6: Present and/or listen closely to the attorneys’ opening statements and
modify, as needed, your statements and possible questions. Make new notations.
