This is the cheapest way to travel from Heathrow Airport to
Greenwich University (south east London, zone 2-3) (updated 25th
August 2009)
The London Underground (the “Tube”) Piccadilly Line provides a regular
service from all Heathrow Terminals into London.
There are two Underground stations at Heathrow Airport. Terminals 1, 2 and 3
share a station, Terminal 4 has its own.
From each Terminal's Arrivals area follow the signs for Underground.
All trains from Heathrow go to London.
Trains run every 3-7 minutes depending on time of day.
The Fare to central London (Zone 1): One way £4.00
Tickets can be purchased from the London Transport information desks in
each terminal Arrivals area or at the Underground station.
Ticket machines at the stations accept UK coins and give change. Some
accept UK notes (bills).
• Take the Piccadilly Line Underground train to Piccadilly Circus
Underground station (this takes 50 minutes)
• At Piccadilly Circus change to the Bakerloo line (heading south
towards Elephant & Castle) and get off at Charing Cross – 1 stop.
• Walk to Charing Cross overland main Train Station
• Buy a ticket to Maze Hill train station (approx £5.00)
• Take the Southeastern train (towards Gravesend) direct to Maze Hill
train station. Journey time approx 20 minutes.
Note: Maze Hill is the stop after Greenwich and is the nearest station to
the University (Queen Anne Building).
• From Maze Hill it is a 10 minute walk to the University.
The total journey time should be approximately 1 hour 30 minutes.
Note: buying single tickets is usually cheaper than buying ‘return’ tickets.
