Mozilla Sunbird

Mozilla Sunbird is a portable calendar. You can use it to plan your day, week, month, tasks
and appointments.


Who would benefit?
Students who have organisational and/or memory difficulties and like to see information
presented in a visual and colourful way.




   Main features:
   •   Add Events
   •   Add Tasks
   •   You can also add a time, choose whether you want it to be an all-day appointment,
       specify the location and set an alarm to remind you.
   •   The calendar can also be viewed by day, week, or month!

Add an Event


1. Select the date that you would like to add your event to, by clicking once on the date, it
   should highlight in yellow on the calendar.




2. Click on the New Event icon               on the toolbar.




A pop up box will appear, in the pop up box input the details of the event in the
corresponding fields.

3. Title: The name of the event. This is what you will see when you first glance at the
   calendar
4. Location: Where the event will be taking place
5. Category: What type of event is it? ( You can create a new category for an event,
   please see Create a new category for further details on how to do this)
6. Calendar: Which calendar would you like to store the event in (You can create a second
   calendar for personal events, please see the section headed Create a new Calendar
   for further details on how to do this)
7. Start and End: Choose the time the event begins, and the time that it ends
8. You can set these dates and times by entering them via the keyboard in the respective
   field or by clicking on the drop-down arrow in that same field. You will then be presented
   with the following selection options:

         Set Date

9. If the event does not have a start or end time you can select the "All day event" tick-box
   after which the start and end time will be greyed out.




10. Repeat: by default you have the following options:


         Does Not repeat
         Daily
         Weekly
         Every Weekday
         Bi-weekly
         Monthly
         Yearly
         Custom

11. Reminder: Will pop up with an alarm at a specified time before the event.


12. Description: A brief summary/list of the event


13. When you have completed filling in the details of the event, click the            Save
   and Close icon.
14. The Event that you will have created will appear on the calendar view, if hovered over
   the details of the Event will appear.




15. To review or edit an Event double click the left mouse button on its Title.

Add a Task


1. Click on the New Task icon              on the toolbar.




2. A pop up box will appear, in the pop up box input the details of the task in the
   corresponding fields.




3. Title: The name of the Task.
4. Location: Where the Task will be taking place

5. Category: What type of Task is it? ( You can create a new category for an event, please

6. Calendar: Which calendar would you like to store the event in (You can create a second

         Not Specified
         Needs Action
         In Progress
         Completed on
         Cancelled

9. Repeat: by default you have the following options:


         Does Not repeat
         Daily
         Weekly
         Every Weekday
         Bi-weekly
         Monthly
         Yearly
         Custom

10. Reminder: Will pop up with an alarm at a specified time before the event.

12. When you have completed filling in the details of the event, click the Save and Close


   icon               .
13. The Task that you will have created will appear on the Task panel at the left hand side
   of the screen, if hovered over the details of the Task will appear.

To review or edit the Task double click the left mouse button, on its Title.

Calendar Views


1. Click on the different views on the toolbar to view the calendar Today, Daily, Week,
   Multiweek or Month.

Printing the Calendar


1. Click File > Print.




2. Title: The name of the Calendar to be printed.
3. Layout: by default you have the following options:


        List
        Monthly Grid
        Weekly Planner

4. What to Print: by default you have the following options:
        Events in Current View
        Custom date range




5. Click Print, and then select the printer you would like to print to and click OK.

Add a New Category


   1. Select Tools >Options




   2. A pop up box will appear, select Categories




   3. Click the Add… button.


   4. A pop up box will appear, type in the category Name.

5. To add a colour click on the check box Use Colour, then select the colour you
   would like to use.




6. Click OK.

Close Sunbird

1. To close the Sunbird – portable calendar application, select the File, and then Exit.
