Dear Sir or Madame of Admission Department:
I am writing to you because I am confident that your Dietetic Internship program with
combined Masters of Science degree is an excellent program for my future career goals. I will
be graduating in May 2012 from the University of Tennessee Knoxville with a B.S. in Nutrition
and two minors: Business Administration and Restaurant Foodservice/Management. After
reviewing your website and speaking with the program director, I believe my educational,
volunteer, and work experience has made me a desirable candidate for your rigorous program.
I am interested in your DI program, because it focuses on food service management, which I
have a magnitude of skills in. Throughout my undergraduate career I have developed these
skills by working in the food service industry as a line cook and taking a variety of management
courses including Advanced Food Service Management. I also was able to work as an office
assistant that gave me business and accounting experience. Volunteering as a coach allowed
me to develop advanced skills in leadership. Working my way through college enabled me to
improve upon my time management skills, communication, and work ethic. Properly managing
my time, working with a diverse population, and developing hard skills like food safety and
accounting has put me ahead of the curve compared to my fellow students. I believe that I can
successfully complete your program, and begin a fruitful career.
Please refer to the enclosed resume that fully summarizes my qualifications, work experiences,
volunteer activities, and skill set. I believe after reviewing my resume you will be confident in
my abilities to excel in your program.
I can be contacted at any point in time via cellphone (865) 816-2616 or through email
Lflower1@utk.edu. If you have any further questions about my application or resume, please
feel free to contact me and I will promptly respond.
Thank you for your time and consideration,
Lauren C. Flowers
