Part V. Project description
The points below are intended to serve as a guide for your description of the proposed activities. The information that is
requested will be very important in the selection process, and later for the running of the project. For further information,
please consult the Programme Guide, part B – Action 3.1.
If more space is needed, please extend boxes.
Objectives and priorities:
Please explain the context, the origin and the objectives of your project and in which way it meets the objectives and the
priorities of the Youth in Action Programme.
This section needs you to link your objectives to the priorities and themes you chose on page 2.
Setting objectives is not always easy. Please remember that objectives are specific rather than general.
Example: if your priority is cultural diversity and your theme is minorities, then one specific objective may
be that during the activity the participants gain a greater understanding of the many different
minority communities in Europe.
Project's design:
Please indicate:
how you found the other promoter(s), how you established an efficient partnership, and how the partner(s) will cooperate
and be involved in the project,
the activities foreseen throughout the project for its implementation, including preparatory and evaluation activities.
the practical arrangements for the implementation of the Activity (food, lodging, transports, etc.)
Please attach an estimated daily timetable of the planned Activity , using the template below.. It should reflect the theme and
objectives of the project and have clear identifiable learning outcomes clearly listed). The template below is for one day of the
activity only and therefore you will need to expand it to include the total number of days for your project)
The next phase is how you implement the objectives in a non-formal daily programme of
activities.
Non-formal learning refers to learning which takes place outside of formal educational
curricula. Non-formal learning activities involve people on a voluntary basis and are carefully
planned to foster participants’ personal and social development. They can be described as
‘learning through doing’.
Daily time table template:

activity contribute to the objectives of
eg. intercultural

dialogue
Date:
AM:
PM:
Evening:
Youth in Action Programme – Sub-Action 3.1 - Training and Networking Page 10
Please use the template timetable below to build your programme of activities. This template is for one
day only so you will need to expand it to match the number of days your activity will last.
Each day in the table is broken down into morning, afternoon and evening. For each of these periods you
need to describe the activity you will do (activity), how you will do it (method) and why you are doing it
(learning outcome).
Think about how your objectives and themes can be realised in a daily programme. It is a good idea to
involve the partner promoters in the decision making process.
Please do not repeat the same descriptions for different days and avoid copy & pasting generic terms
from the programme guide.
Project's content and methodology:
Please describe:
the theme(s) of the project,
how the main theme reflects the interests and needs of participants,
the working methods,
how the planned activities and working methods will contribute to the process of non-formal learning and to the promotion of
social and personal development of participants involved in the project,
how the participants will be actively involved in each stage of the project.
It is very important that you describe in detail how the exchange is going to benefit the
participants. You must describe the methods you will use and link them to your daily
programme.
Youth in Action Programme – Sub-Action 3.1 - Training and Networking Page 11
Intercultural dimension:
Please indicate if and how your project reflects the following characteristics:
the project increases participants' positive awareness of other cultures,
the project supports dialogue and intercultural encounters with other participants from different backgrounds and cultures,
the project helps to prevent and combat prejudice, racism and all attitudes leading to exclusion,
the project develops sense of tolerance and understanding of diversity.
Ask yourself – what does the project do?
Does it promote awareness of other
cultures? Does it facilitate intercultural
dialogue? etc.
European dimension:
Please indicate if and how your project reflects the following characteristics; tick box(es) and then describe:
the project fosters participants’sense of European citizenship and helps them to understand their role as part of the
present and future of Europe;
the project reflects a common concern for European society, such as racism, xenophobia and anti-semitism, drug
abuse…;
the project’s theme is linked to EU topics, such as EU enlargement, the roles and activities of the European institutions,
the EU's action in matters affecting young people;
the project debates the founding principles of the EU, i.e. principles of liberty, democracy, respect for human rights and
fundamental freedoms, and the rule of law.
To reflect a European dimension a project should offer the participants the opportunity to identify
common values with other participants from different countries.
Projects should also stimulate participants to reflect on the essential characteristics of European
society which will increase their understanding of being part of a wider European community
A project with a European dimension should not only ‘discover’ Europe but also - and more importantly
- aim to build it!
Youth in Action Programme – Sub-Action 3.1 - Training and Networking Page 12
Impact, multiplying effect and follow-up:
Please explain the expected impact on participants and the local communities involved in the project and which measures
are foreseen to attain this impact. In a long term perspective, please describe how you plan to achieve a multiplying effect
and sustainable impact. Please also explain how you plan to follow up this Training and Networking (e.g. new projects within
the framework of the Youth in Action Programme, continuous contact with the promoter(s), etc.)?
It can be difficult to anticipate the impact on local communities, plan
multiplying effects and ensure a sustainable impact. For ideas and
guidance please go to: www.salto-youth.net/makingwaves
This guide gives many ideas on how to create more impact and raise
the visibility of your project.
Visibility:
Apart from the compulsory use of the Programme Logo (please see Part C, Publicity, of the Programme Guide), please
describe:
how you will ensure the visibility of the project;
how your project will provide clear promotional added value for the Youth in Action Programme.
Important: any public communication or publication relating to this YiA-funded project must include the
following statement in Tahoma font:
‘This project has been funded with support from the European Commission.
This publication/communication reflects the views only of the author, and the
Commission cannot be held responsible for any use which may be made of the
information contained therein. The UK National Agency for the Youth in Action
programme is the British Council’.
Please ensure you use the correct logos for the YiA programme and the UK NA in publications and activities
for which the grant has been provided. Up to date logos can be obtained from the PDF version of the
programme guide (in section C) or alternatively you can copy & paste the logos from below and then
expand them. If these obligations are not met then your grant may be reduced.

Dissemination and exploitation of results:
Please give a detailed description of standard measures planned in view to disseminate and exploit the results of the project.
(For inspiration, please see Part B, Action 3.1 'How to develop a good project?' of the Programme Guide).
For ideas on dissemination and exploitation of results please see
www.salto-youth.net/makingwaves/
The ‘Making Waves’ booklet offers many examples of how to incorporate additional activities into
your project in order to further increase the long-term impact of your project - activities which are
designed both to showcase and inform others of your outcomes.
Have you planned additional measures assuring dissemination and exploitation of project's results? Yes No
If so, please describe them, give additional information on the target group and include a timetable of your planned activities.
