Association of Women Educators White Ribbon Day Every Day
Thank-you for a very detailed and thoughtful forum that has engaged educators with
the community sector in a safe and open environment.
Congratulations on a first class day, professionally constructed and delivered. It was a
great and rigorous event. The discussion was marvellous, thought provoking and
reformative. Well Done.
I LOVE feminist critiques : )
Great day, great opportunity to talk Primary Prevention. Thanks Maria!
Great choice of speakers. Beautifully facilitated throughout. Gave me lots to think
Conference enjoyable to explore further resources and points of knowledge. Did
wonder about preaching to the converted???
I thoroughly enjoyed the seminar today. It was great to hear from some of the
different organisations available to help schools learn more about gender related
issues and apply this knowledge in our teaching. Personally I have gained so much
from today. I arrived with what I thought was an in-depth understanding of gender
issues in schools, but left with so much more. Thank-you for an incredibly beneficial
Conference was very productive. Learnt a lot about the programs on offer to schools.
I hope programs are able to be successfully integrated in schools around Australia.
Great to see a number of different programs being showcased. Food for thought!
Thanks for bringing everyone together on such an important topic.
Great speakers. Well organized for first time. Definitely like to see more teachers/EQ
reps. Can’t wait for Facebook site! Look forward to next conference. Maybe more
opportunity for discussion (2 day format – Though I do realize this may limit teacher
Very informative and well run. Surprised that there were not more represented. I
would like to see it done again. Well done.
Loved it! Thankyou! Hard to get up early for a 6am flight but it was so heartening to
know the passion and knowledge is still out there.
Very interesting and helpful however there were some questions regarding whole
community and parents involvement – maybe we needed more time for the
presentations?! Amanda and Martin were awesome. Maria, this was a great work!
(Great catering selection too)
Really enjoyed the keynote speakers. Programs were interesting. Unfortunate that not
more schools take the opportunity to welcome partnerships in health.
Maybe I got the wrong end of the stick but to me there seemed to be a lot of focus
around teachers being responsible to deliver the gender justice program – but I feel it
should be a whole community approach to supporting the school. Teachers already
have an awful lot that’s expected of them, and their main job is supposed to be
teaching children to read and write and further develop that in subject matter.
I really enjoyed the conference, especially gaining information about the SAPPSS
programme, the "Respectful Relationships" programme and the "Solving the Jigsaw"
programme. I only wish it was a cake-walk to lay the community ground-work which
would allow these programmes to flow-over into the students' home-lives! (*sigh*...
ah, well... if we all petition the government... perhaps it will all be mandated for
"pastoral care" programmes, and the difficulties in overcoming the home-
life/relationships-information dicotomy will be bypassed...) We can but work and
hope. :) Great presenters. Enjoyed workshops. Learned a lot. I will join in the
facebook page to continue the conversation. Great day! Thankyou
Very valuable. Reconfirmed my passion for this area. Some new ideas and thoughts
about how to work in this area. Great presenters. Some new resources I became
The day was a wonderful opportunity to explore appropriate frameworks, approaches
and the work that people do. The networking was great and the speakers all
contributed to the day. Maria did a fantastic job bringing us all together.
The keynote speakers were great. The workshops were less productive.
Very interesting and informative day. Eclectic group of people. Good venue and
food. Good opportunities to showcase approaches in this area. Invigorated and
Good to have like minded groups presenting. Great presenters who could offer a
range of information. See the need for change in the Education system nationally.
Great work Maria. Thanks!
Thought provoking. Challenging for my work future working in partnerships more in
the area of prevention. Thank you!
Thank-you for organising such a wonderful conference with such skilled, inspiring
and motivated presenters. It was outstanding. The focus on gender based violence,
language and power relations and a focus that is informed by the fields of sexual
assault and domestic violence, and underpinned by a feminist analysis was excellent.
A brilliant conference Maria. Well done.
